Good morning!

How's everyone's day going?  Mine has been pretty hectic so far, but I'm feeling pretty productive.  I've been incredibly stressed from all angles lately, but it seems like it's more ME than the actual things going on.  I normally wouldn't feel so stressed under these circumstances, so I'm wondering what that's all about.  I think I'll try to get to confession tomorrow night, and then stay to pray in the chapel for a bit.  Confession + chapel should have a calming effect, I hope!

I'm feeling incredibly excited for H starting law school.  I feel like God is really looking out for us, and I'm really proud of H for standing by his dream.  It's going to be a rough few years, but I'm a firm believer in the cleansing/strengthening power of a little suffering!

Re: Good morning!

  • I'm getting over a cold and in denial that it's supposed to snow 6-10" tonight... blah.  I think my sudafed-induced haze is making me feel less productive than usual... but I bought myself tulips yesterday to make myself feel better :-)

Had another offer rejected on a townhome last weekend and getting a bit frustrated with some of the shenanigans that realtors pull to manipulate the offer process and the sellers... but another place just dropped their price to within our budget so maybe that will pan out better!
  • Newly, the whole home-buying process is a headache!  I hope you get an offer accepted soon, and that your whole process goes smoothly!  Also...SNOW?!!?  That's terrible.  It's been so nice all week around here.  It was in the 80s yesterday!

  • Resa - which law school did your H end up choosing?

Newly - sorry to hear you aren't feeling well, and boo on the snow!  I wonder if that means some is headed our way too...  Wishing you luck on your townhouse search - I'm starting to get a little frustrated in that we've had plenty of showings at our condo, but no offers yet. We're going  to look at more houses  tonight, and there's one we both REALLY like, but we can't really do anything until we sell.

I am so happy and excited for you guys! I would definitely say (from experience!) that the suffering will be as bad as you make it. Between now and fall, I would encourage you guys to sit down and make some basic "rules" about how things will go. For example, H and I always have dinner together, with very few exceptions. Keep your love languages in mind (and if you don't know what they are, figure them out!) when you make them, so that, whatever you decide, it is fulfilling to you guys, even if things appear tougher/different/busier than they are now. Does that kind of make sense? Also, really encourage your H to remain active in his faith (no missing mass, etc.), because that has really strengthened both my H and I through grad/professional school experiences. I have seen people neglect those things, and suffer because of it.

For the ladies with snow, I hope spring shows up and stays put soon!

For the homebuying ladies, I know that the experience can be a real rollercoaster! I hope things work out for you soon!

<div>Today the high is in the mid-70's, and we're expected to get nasty storms this afternoon followed by a really hard freeze.  Dear Nature, you're doing it wrong.  =(</div><div>
</div><div>As for me, H got to spend five consecutive nights at home, so it's been quite pleasant at our house.  He got a ton of pictures hung for me and we did a lot of cleaning over the weekend.  Hopefully I can keep up with at least the indoor stuff.  It would be nice if the weather would cooperate so we can get started on our yard!</div>

  • H hasn't heard back from all the schools he applied to, so he hasn't picked one yet.  And Biblio, that's really good advice!  We'll probably have to see what his class schedule is like, and how long his commute takes, before we can really have expectations, but I'm sure we'll be able to work through it.

  • Newly, I'm in all-out denial about the snow too. I canNOT belive it. My tulips are just starting to come up and the toddler and I have had so much fun getting outside the past week. But at least it won't last, right??

As for home buying, I can tell you it stinks on the selling side of things, too. I'm trying to sell the house I bought before we were married. I tried about 3 years ago, before the wedding, with no luck. Rented it out for the past 2.5 years. Now it's been on the market a little over 2 weeks and nothing except several showings and a suuuper lowball offer. I know I should be patient since it hasn't been that long, but it's a cute house with lots of charm...and I really just want it off my plate.

  • The weather has been gorgeous here today, but windy. Still, I will take it.

Today was the day I told my director about being pregnant. She was so supportive and happy for me and gave me a big hug. I was a little nervous, but then told myself it was going to be okay. Well I found out that there are 2 others that are pregnant, one of which is due about a week after me. They are also going to work with me for my school schedule in a few months where I have to be off work by 4:30 at the latest since my classes are at 5:30.

Can you be sure to tell us when he picks?! I just graduated last spring and really enjoy hearing law school stories.

Considering I'm typing this from work as I take a breather before I prepare for my 9:30 PM meeting tonight, I think Biblio has great advice that will help with law school and beyond.

Also, try to be very understanding the first semester of finals. It's the single most important round of grades, but no one really knows what they're doing. (In retrospect I'm just thankful I had no idea how important it was, as I would probably have overthought everything.)

I keep forgetting what day it is, but today is 7 months until our wedding. We got registered this weekend, and are looking forward to taking time off to visit both our families in May/June.

Not looking forward to Mother's Day (the first without FI's mom) and then coming up June 1st will be the anniversary of her passing. But, overall, things are going well, just have to take everything day by day. I enjoy reading everyone's posts :)
