  We had cake but not topper.  I mean there was a top to the cake, but it was a palm tree made of sugar, not a traditional topper.    So you really don't need one.

  
  

  Howerver, our friends had starfish painted as a bride and groom.  His had a Texas A&M hat on.  It was cute and would be the right size.

  What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

  Maybe have toppers baked into the pie crust. Like a heart or your initials. Depending on how many pies you will have you can make toppers be special wedding favors for a few guests. Ex: sand dollars
