Engagement Party Question

 Hello Ladies

This is my question my daughter and her groom to be have been engaged a year now,there wedding date is set for April the 5/2014
I'am to late in giving them a engagement party or i'am still to soon for this?

    My family had our engagement party a year after we got engaged.... The etiquette rule is that the engagement party needs to be closer to the engagement not the wedding. It looks like your just about to get to that mark where the party would be closer to the wedding than the engagement.

    I say go with your heart on it! There may not have been a formal announcement, and if not an engagement party can be a great time to get every excited about what is to come.

    I say it depends. How well do the families know each other? Was there anything keeping the party from happening previously? 

    My fiancé and I got engaged February 2012, and because he had to go overseas where his Navy squadron moved to, we didn't have the engagement party until he came home again in December 2012.
