BANGING HEAD ON WALL!!

Ok. Need to vent and need advise. Me and my guy are to be married Jan. 4, 2014, and the place we wanted to marry as doubled in their prices. Needless to say, we cannot afford it. So, Tried to check out alternative places, but nothing fits our needs, preferrences, or price. No one I know has a big enough house, and it would be a HUGE hassle to apply for a permit to marry in a public area... we live in another state, and want to marry in Florida, where I grew up. ... New to the planning thing, don't want to hire a planner, any suggestions??

Re: BANGING HEAD ON WALL!!

  • Have you Googled wedding venues in (insert Florida city of choice here)?  That's how I started looking for wedding venues. There's got to be SOMETHING that works.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

[QUOTE]Also, just out of curiosity, how do you have a date set if you haven't booked a venue?

I was thinking the same thing.  I think she means she has a date she wants...but not a date set.

Retread, it's not always possible or practical for people to get married in their living rooms.

I live in a 2 room apartment.  There is no way in heck a wedding is going to take place there.

Not to mention, some religions and jurisdictions do not allow for home weddings.

[QUOTE]I don't know what your budget is, but look into firehalls, VFWs, and community centers. They usually rent for cheap and often include tables and chairs. You'll have to bring in all your own food and drinks, but you can always do a daytime reception with finger foods or cake and punch only.

</div><div>That's pretty much what it is. We're dead set on the date. Just have to find the venue that works</div>

[QUOTE]How large a wedding do you want? How fancy? Where do you live?  Does anyone have a backyard? If you just want parents and siblings, then have the officiant come to your house.  Order a cake and get a dress. Lots of people got married in their living rooms a century ago. Try restaurant party rooms, museums, hotel ballrooms, art galleries, college chapels, membership lodges (Elks, Eagles, Masonic....), community centers.  The Unitarian Universalists let anyone use their facilities. Don't count on getting the date you want.  Never pick a date without setting up a venue first.

<div>Well, we're going to fly down to Miami because that's where I grew up and my guy thought it would be a nice gesture, seeing as I just moved to Indiana and am terribly home sick. We are pretty dead set on the date as it has meaning to us. We are more so looking for a venue to fit the date, not the other way around. The place we wanted has our date available, but, budget is tight and we may be needing an alternative to it all </div>
