Sturdy wine glasses

Can anyone recommend some sturdy wine glass brands?  I'm kind of a novice when it comes to wine in general, but I've heard of some wine glasses breaking very easily.  They don't need to be anything fancy; I just want glasses that won't break when I'm washing them as I'm admittedly pretty clumsy.  I would prefer stemmed glasses.  Thanks in advance!

    I registered for Lenox wine and martini glasses from Macys.  They are always running deals on them for 29.99 for 4 of 39.99.  I received the martini glasses for my shower.  I haven't used them, but opened up the box to take a peak at them.  I can already tell, that they are MUCH more sturdy than the martini glasses that I have from Target, which were also at the same price point. What I liked most, is that the stem was thicker and the rim of the glass was thicker too, so it doesn't seem like it would chip or crack easily.  I mean, like I've said, I haven't washed them yet because I will wait till after the wedding to use them, but I like what I've seen so far. =)  I'm sure the wine glasses are just as nice. I hope someone gets those for me =P or I'll be buying them after the wedding.

    Honestly?  Buy them at some place like Pier 1.  I've bought nicer wine glasses in my day, but the only ones that have held up have been my cheapo Pier 1 wine glasses at $2.50 each.  I throw them in the dishwasher, they sit in the sink and get bumped around, and I've never had any issues.  Personally, I wouldn't register for wine glasses and would just buy them myself after the wedding.

    My cheap IKEA glasses have help up really well and go in the dishwasher frequently, but I've never dropped them or anything like that.  I also got an Anchor Hocking glass at a wine tasting event and the stem seems really thick and sturdy.

    We have fancy wine glasses, I wash them in the dishwasher all the time, and they've never broken. I have no idea what brand because FI inhereted them from a roommate who decided he didn't want them anymore.

    Honestly, we got our wine glasses at Wal-Mart.  They were super inexpensive, but they have held up just fine.  The only one that has broken is one I knocked on the floor.

    We registered for Lenox, they received really great reveiws.  I love wine, FI....not so much.  I also have my target cheapies if I dont want to bust out my fancy ones.

    We went with schott zweisel glasses.  H and I are into wine, but we couldn't justify the $25/stem Reidels that often break.  Ours are $12/stem and you can get them for a bit less than that on Amazon. They are shaped properly for the kinds of wine we drink, but they are a sturdier non-leaded crystal so they hold up better in the dishwasher than other high-quality glasses.  Nice wine glasses are actually quite thin... the idea is that you don't really want to feel the rim of the glass when drinking.  There should be no ridge at all around the rim - and any glass that costs more than $5/stem with a ridge around the rim is a rip-off. 

    If you ever have people who are into wine over for dinner, you might want to register for a slightly nicer set because your guests will notice if you have clunky glasses.  And now is the time to acquire nice things - we got all 12 of our glasses from our registry.  If you really don't care, however, then buy the cheapest ones you can find at Wal-mart or even the dollar store.  But for the love of all that is reasonable, don't spend more than a couple bucks per glass for chunky glasses.

    I love the Mikasa wine glasses we got for a housewarming party a few years ago. I think both BBB and Macy's carry them.

    Luigi Bormoli makes a couple of lines of break resistant glassware - the Crescendo line and Michelangelo line. They are pretty sturdy glasses, but still very nice looking and not clunky. I'm a total klutz and have yet to break one even after dropping one in the sink.
