Looking for a place to get married near Allen, Tx

Hi my name is Kelly and I'm new to this site, so hello to everyone. I'm looking for an affordable venue to be married in other than a church due to my mother in law to be religion. I want to respect her beliefs and also have her there for my fianc. Also I'm looking for a low budget venue for the reception in the same area. Cheap but nice. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • Welcome to the boards. How many people are you inviting. When you say low budget so you have a dollar amount in mind for the venue. Are you looking for outdoor/indoor? Would you like to venue to allow outside catering? this usually keeps the budget down.

Hi and welcome.  Exact budget and guest size would be helpful.

There are a couple of good venues in McKinney:  Heard Museum, Bingham House, and Chestnut Square that might be worth a look.  Also the 1899 Farmhouse in Princeton and the Big Orange Pumkin Farm in Celina.  Fairy Tale Manor, Frisco.

  • You can also check out Event 1013 in downtown Plano.

<div>Not knowing what your budget is, Reflections on Spring Creek may be a great place for you.  We were married there in May of last year and it was wonderful.</div>

Between 80 and 100 people are showing up and I can truly say I'm not sure about the budget. Money is real funny right about now, really wish I had some sponsors or something.
  • Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I'll look these places up and check them out.
  • Well it will be in Aug so too hot for outside, it will be inside definitely. Lol

Even "budget friendly" venues can cause sticker shock if you don't know what to expect.  Figuring out a budget for venue and food is really the first step after the guest list.

Oh yeah most of these places might not work for August unfortunately.

  • I agree with Stephanie. Unless you have your budget figured out then there is really no point in even looking at venues yet. Why fall in love with a place that you wont be able to afford or have your wedding at. This rings true for dresses as well. Plus looking at venues is time comsuming so I wouldnt waste your time until you figure out how much you have in your budget.
  • MonicaBird, please stop advertising your venue on The Knot . It is a violation of the terms of service.  You have been reported.

  • I am getting Married in the McKinney Flour Mill, it is really nice and unique. It can hold between 150 and 200. Isnt too pricey and lets you bring it outside catering which really helps on cost.
