Sunday!

Saw a couple pics from Kathleen's wedding they looked great! The seller countered at 435 more than we offered, with no other changes, which means we are basically homeowners!!!!!!!! I'm so excited. We're going to try to close ASAP so H can get in quickly. I'm babysitting niece and nephew now, waiting for my ILs to get home. Tempted to tell them to bring some champagne.

Re: Sunday!

  • Amanda that is SO bloody exciting!!! I'm so happy for you!!

Film festival is officially over, so hopefully today will only be a half day for FI. We got some registering and suit-getting to do!
If today goes as planned, there will be lots of checks today!

That's awesome, Amanda! Congrats to you and DH!!!

Carrie -- we still have suit/tux-gettin' to do also.  Except we're getting married on 5/25 and FI isn't home until 5/13. Shiiiiiiiiz.  I have no idea how that's going to work... IF that's going to work.  I hope Men's Warehouse doesn't kick our asses when we show up that close to our wedding date to make a reservation.  It makes me nervous. :(

Today for me includes writing a paper, talking to FI on Skype, ad possible covering up some of the highlights my hair lady did yesterday.  Undecided  I thought I made it clear I just wanted her to redo my partial highlights I had done in October (yeah, it had been awhile).  I guess she thought I meant I wanted highlights but please make sure to redo the partial highlights that had grown out.  So now my hair is blonde and stripey and I want to vomit.

Maybe you should call Men's Warehouse now and make sure that's not going to be a problem? Maybe they can "reserve" the tux now, and just get the measurements later. Or, they probably have other ways to get his measurements (i.e., you bring in something of his that fits, and they measure that. It'd be close, anyway).

Re: the hair, I bet if you called the salon you went to they'd let you come back in and someone else would re-do them. You'd probably just have to wait a week or two. I had a similar problem last time I got highlights ... I had highlights and lowlights (from a previous trip to the same low-price salon, where I had an awesome experience) and I told her to just "match what had already been done" because I didn't know the terms for it then, but I showed her all the different colors. She put in just thin blonde highlights at the top of my head and called it a day. It wasn't even close to matching what was there!!! I knew I should go back in and get it redone, but I chickened out and instead went somewhere else and got my hair dyed dark to just completely get rid of the highlights altogether.

Congrats! I definitely hope you can speed up the closing process ... those six weeks we had seemed like forever. But, I was super nervous until the inspection came back (and the repairs were made) and the appraisal came back. I was so sure something was going to fall through, the whole time, but thankfully it didn't.

<div>Since it's brand new, I don't think closing will take long.  We have to do a walk-through to point out all the places the paint needs to be touched up, they have to put in the sod, fence, and garage door openers, and we need the inspection, but we're going to try to speed all that up.  If I had time off, I'd just spend a few days up there getting all that done, but as it is, we'll probably just be spending a few more weekends up there getting everything finalized.</div>

  • Yay Amanda!
Not much going on here. Grocery shopping day. I should make a phone call to one of the officients I've narrowed my search down to. I've already talked to Richard Sutherland and my other choice is Weddings by Tina. Anyone use either of these officients?

Amy- Calling Men's Warehouse would probably be a good idea to explain the situation and see what they can do.

</div><div>I'm going to run by Men's Warehouse on Tuesday afternoon and talk to them in person.  Seems like it would be better to do that than call.  FI has most of his good-fitting clothes with him in Padre.  The only thing I can tell them is that before he left, he wore pants that had a 36" waist and he is athletic build so his shoulders are very broad so he usually has to wear shirts that are one size too big in the torso to accommodate his shoulders.  But, he's been working out and eating better since he's been gone, so his measurements may be COMPLETELY different.  They promised me they would have him fit for a tux by the first week of May somewhere near where he is, but the closest place I could find was 1.5 hours away... and considering their track record of getting things done, I'm not going to hold my breath.</div><div>
</div><div>On the hair -- I'm like you, I'd chicken out before thinking of asking someone to fix it.  I COULD have stopped her, but she had already done the first two layers before I realized just how many highlights she was really doing.  I used to dye my own hair back in college, but I had a roommate who could get the back for me.  I used all the pro stuff at Sally's, learned how to find the right lift, learned how to foil my own highlights, etc.  So I can easily do most of it myself (coloring is easy... you're just depositing onto the hair, especially when you're working over bleached highlights) and I've never, ever had any issues screwing it up myself.  I always hear horror stories about that, though.  It's not horrible... it's just not what I had wanted.

  • Yay for the house Amanda! And a big woohoo for Kathleen, who is married!! We just got back from doing the Warrior Dash, and all I want to do I's take a nap, but we have to go to a parade. Ugh. Angelsong, MW should have no problem getting you the tuxes that close, I just think they charge more if you don't have all the measurements in by like two weeks out or so. Here's to hoping they make an exception for you!!
  • Thanks, winechic!  I just talked to FI a bit ago.  He made some good points about NOT staying another week, namely that it's Family Week for everyone else there which means the entire week they just do experientials for those without family there (ie going horseback riding, zip-lining, out to eat, etc).  While all those things are fun, it seems like his time would be better spent here establishing his team he needs to keep him on the right track.  So we'll see what he and his team there decide tomorrow.

For now, I'm off to Home Depot to continue to procrastinate on writing my paper, hooray!
