    IMHO, I think it's a little wordy and is trying too hard. If you insist on using the opening phrase, what about:

    Two lives, two hearts
    joined together in friendship
    united forever in love


    Sarah Ann Smith
    and
    Michael John Jones

    request the pleasure of your company
    as they are united in marriage
    Sunday, the eighteenth of August
    Two thousand and thirteen
    five o'clock
