striped straws?

I've seen a lot of people stating that they are going to used striped straws. I think they're cool, but I am having a hard time seeing how these would be incorporated. Any ideas? Aren't they too big for cocktails? Aren't they made of paper?

I think they're cute if you want to put in your drink, but they're just going to be displayed, so you don't have to take one. And for $6 for 144 straws, it's worth it to me.

We are using them for our lemonade and ice tea in glass jar mugs. And I guess beer and wine if people want to drink those through a straw?? haha.

From my experience the straws have some type of coating on it. It's kind of waxy (think like the inside of a paper milk carton...) so the straws don't disenegrate in the liquids.

Tara, there's a store in Chapel Hill called A Southern Season that has a ton of them in lots of different colors. You can also get them online. This is one time to not get something from etsy though. Thanks! We have a cupcake shop on main street on campus so i'll check there before I buy online. The price makes it worth it to look adorable on the bar at cocktail hour.

Thanks for the advice girls. I still wonder if they would just be overlooked or if people would actually use them. They're so cute though and I kinda want 'em!
