Was wondering if I could get a few ideas from the wonderful knotties:

FI and are are planning to have a wedding cake at our reception but I was wondering about the idea of making brownies and cookies etc a few days before the wedding for additional dessert choices. We do have the option of choosing 1 dessert from the menu for all guests but the options we have won't please everyone.

Should I look at making multiple but simple desserts or choose one desert and hope the guests like it? We will be having 55 guests maximum so I wonder if the idea is a possibility :

    You could always have your favorite and your husbands favorite dessert. Make a sign indicating that they were your favorites.

    Where is your reception?  Some venues will not let you bring in food that was not made in a licensed kitchen, so you will need to check with your venue and your caterer.  

    If you're allowed to bring homemade food in and the idea of making all those desserts in the days before your wedding doesn't bother you, then go for it.  What flavors of cake are you having?  If you're not having chocolate, then I would make chocolate brownies.  If you are having chocolate cake, what about a few different types of cookies?

    The venue allows for food that doesn't not need to be heated/cooked. We are choosing vanilla cake with simple vanilla icing. My mum will he here a few weeks before the wedding and has said if I choose 2 or 3 cookies/desserts, she is happy to help make they with me. I like the idea of multiple types of cookies. I would only use recipes that I could make with my eyes closed.
