The cicadas are coming....... ew.

I'm so not looking forward to it - I have a feeling my cats are going to go berserk for the next month when they are all out and being all gross. (Bugs don't normally gross me out, but this is the 17th year for the cicadas, so it's going to be the SWARM season. Bugs in mass quantities gross me out.)

Eh, cicadas are no big thing. We have the 13 year swarms here, and that gets a little intense, but I like those things. Just don't mow the lawn while they're out -- they like that noise and swarm toward it.

@Stina - we have cicadas too, but I don't think we get the swarms that they are talking about. They are big beetle looking things - very noisy. (it sounds like an electrical line to me)

We have cicadas where I am but never in swarm quantities. I can imagine the kitties getting gross hunting them. Makes me grateful that they're not more of a problem out here.

I've never actually seen one of those! Just heard them here and there. We have these nasty bugs that are black with orange on, they cling to the house where the sun beats down. They are gross.

THATS what those are called?! We had them during the summers at the lake house (what we called our WI house). Those were gross - only because there were SO MANY of them.

Cicadas don't gross me out as individuals, but swarms gross me out. Especially because they die after about 4 weeks and then their shells are EVERY WHERE.

We had the 13-year cicadas come out in 2011, and I don't think we are expected to have a swarm this year. They are so icky!

Hannah- I just found an article posted by a news place up by Wausau, they only come out of the ground every 17 years up here.

This article confused me because it said every 17 years, then listed 1990 - so it would be 2007 and 2024 right? Who knows.
