We're making progress!

Last night we finished packing up BF's office and I decided to go ahead and sort/pack his kitchen.  We ended up with yet another big box of items to donate.  I didn't realize how much stuff he had!

I have a bridal shower to go to on Saturday in my hometown, so on Saturday he will be making a lot of donation stops and packing up his clothes and moving them in.  Sunday morning when I get back into town he will bring over his cat and we will be officially living together!  Woohoo!!!

I'm so excited that he decided to hire a cleaning crew to do the post moving clean-up.  I don't like cleaning his apartment on a good day, and it needs a good scrubbing.  He claims he doesn't "see" the dust, grime and cat hair.  lol  I kind of believe him because if he doesn't see me clean something it is usually a day or so before he notices.  Ick!

  • YAY!
Less cleaning is ALWAYS better. :) (Given that the "less" doesn't mean nothing gets cleaned ;) )

  • Very exciting, and super-awesome that you won't have to clean up his old place! I know what you mean about realizing how much stuff you have, but at least it sounds like there is plenty to get rid of so you won't have to move all of it.
  • whoop whoop! Especially for not having to do the dirty work!

  • Yay! That's nice you don't have to clean. I'm not looking forward to doing that in a few months...but it shouldn't be too much work since I don't have animals in my place and I keep the place pretty tidy.
  • Awesome! Cleaning is the worst. If I could, I'd hire someone to clean for me lol.

  • He moved into this apartment two years ago after his divorce and he has always looked at it as a temporary stop.

Most of his furniture predates his marriage and he doesn't even have a bed frame (just the box spring and mattress on the floor).  He volunteered to donate/sell most of his furniture so that helps a lot.  We went through his clothes this weekend and donated two big boxes of stuff he doesn't wear anymore.

He admitted that a lot of the stuff he had should have been donated a long time ago, he just never bothered to do it.  Everything was stuffed into closets and "out of sight, out of mind".

Yes, I am SUPER DUPER excited that he is going to hire a cleaning service.  That means that we will have a lot less time in the old apartment after this weekend.  We will need a trip or two to do a final sweep, check the cleaning status and turn in the keys.  YEAH!!!

Holy cow...  I just called a few cleaning services and to clean an EMPTY apartment it will be about $300.  Yell

I don't know if I can let him spend the money on something I can do myself...  That is a little insane...

I may check some Craigslist postings to see if I can get a better deal.  There won't be anything to steal so it doesn't matter...  lol

Hmm. If there's a security deposit on the line, do you think you can get it clean enough to get the deposit back? Do you care about the deposit? Because I know that a lot of rental companies will nitpick you into submission over the security deposit. It might help to have the service in that case.

I will have to go through his lease...  He doesn't remember a "security deposit" but he remembers purchasing a small insurance policy against damage.  This policy is NOT his renter's insurance.

His apartment isn't that great, there is paint on the base boards, drafty windows that won't stay open, thin walls, and somewhere that I would never have rented if there were other options available.  If he really isn't out a security deposit we may just do a spit polish on it and call it a day.
