Feeding WP day of.

So I either saw this on another board/post or had a dream about it? Wedding starts at 5pm with dinner and dancing at 6pm. As far as breakfast/lunch when everyone is getting ready, what should I provide? Everyone will most likely be getting ready (besides the guys) at my moms house and then getting dressed at the church.
Not sure of timeline yet and what time I will start getting ready because I'm doing my own makeup and hair. So I'm not sure what I need to provide for food. I'm sure some champagne and other alcohol will be flowing but it hadn't even occurred to me that I should feed everyone too.
Any ladies have suggestions on what you did on your day and what you provided. I also have no clue who would even go get food unless we just got something delivered. Thank you!

  • Having a fruit & veggie platter is a good idea and maybe just some mini sandwiches or something. Costco sells pretty tasty platters for reasonable prices!  Smile
  • Didn't even think of that! Thanks!

We're planning to get donuts for breakfast and maybe have sandwich trays and snacks around lunch time.

Go with something light, but filling, like the sandwiches as suggested above.

I was in a wedding once where the bride got bagels for breakfast, but thought the extras would last us until her 7pm ceremony.  It didn't.  We made a McDonalds run at 2pm, then were bloated and gross during pictures.

I do NOT suggest fast food for the ladies.

I purchased bagels and fruit the morning of the wedding and brought it to the salon for everyone to eat while we got our hair done. We brought it back to the hotel to have until we left for the ceremony. My Grandma gave us a box with a bunch of mini chip bags to take with us on the bus, too.

  • My friend just got married this past Saturday and the BP was there over breakfast and lunch getting ready.  She and her Mom provided bagels and doughnuts in the morning and then bought a tray of nuggest from chic-fil-a for lunch.  They also had fruit and chips/pretzels to snack on as well.

Needless to say it was plenty of food.  None of us wanted to eat too much seeing as how we all needed to fit into our dresses, but I definitely ate a bagel and some nuggets and was glad that there was food there because I got hungry.

  • I have a similar timeline to you, and I think for lunch I'll provide pasta salad, regular salad, and make your own sandwiches or wraps with a variety of fixings.
  • For my brother's wedding my SIL had bagels for breakfast, and Panera Sandwiches and Salads for us for lunch. I thought it was a good idea because it was light enough that we didn't feel too full before the ceremony. I'll probably do something similar to this too!
  • I also think finger foods and mini sandwiches are a good idea. I would go with something light. I think bagels and donuts would put me in a food coma, and i always feel gross after eating them. Veggie tray, fruit platter, sandwiches or wraps would be great.

This is the exact plan I have for my wedding. There is a great bagel shop nearby our venue and I plan to just get assorted bagels and cream cheese. There is also a Panera in walking distance and I plan to send someone out for the sandwiches of our choice at lunch time. I don't think I want to get involved with actual catering or trying to figure out what time things should arrive.
  • I think I'm just going to get some fruit and veggie platters and sandwich fixings for the day of. Nothing fancy, but enough to keep us all from fainting from hunger!
  • I had bagels and pastries for breakfast along with juice and coffee.  Then had my dad pick up a tray of chik fila nuggets and fries for lunch.  We also had other snacks available.  And champagne of course!

My H had ordered hoagies from a local deli for getting ready at his moms house.
  • Everyone ate breakfast at home and then came to my parents house around 10:30. We had fruits and veggies available to munch on most of the morning and afternoon. We also ordered sandwiches from Jimmy Johns around lunch time for anyone who wanted one (including hair and makeup people). We had champagne, water, juice, and pop available for people to drink.
  • For lunch on our wedding day, we got sandwich and fruit platters for the BMs as we got ready in the hotel.  H and his GMs went to lunch somewhere, but I'm not really sure where.
  • I had a one 1:00 PM wedding so what we did was the groomsmen met for breakfast & then went back to our house to shower & get dressed. I wanted to make sure they had a good meal in them because I knew most of them would start drinking early.

I brought bagels for my girls while we got ready. I also got two mini sandwich trays from a local grocery store for on the limo. We had 18 people on the limo & a 3 hour gap between ceremony & reception (please don't get on me about how rude the gap was, that's beside the point here). The mini sandwiches were a huge hit because they served as lunch & with being mini sandwiches they were easy to eat. Plus it really help off set the alcohol that was consumed on the limo (yes my our bridal party loves to party).

Our theory was full tummies happy people (think of the snicker's commercial...lol)
  • Thanks ladies! I think I might do a combo of veggie/fruit tray and mini sandwiches. My biggest fear was everyone running around my moms house while getting ready and then someone pointing out they're hungry and there's no food!
