Trash the Dress Session

Hi Gals!

Just wondering if anyone has done or is planning on doing a "Trash the Dress" session after the wedding.

If so what are you thoughts & ideas.

If you've already done it who did you use for the cleaning & preservation afterwards & would you recommend them.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Lindsay

I am planning on doing it. I am not sure yet where to do it though. I am most likely going to use Julie @ JewelPhoto for these. =)

I did it with Julie at Coney Island! So much fun. I just took my dress to the local dry cleaners and it came out perfect!

I know that I'm going to use our wedding photographer for these & she's SO excited.  Gonna bring the dog along too since I won't see her on the day of the wedding....this is the whole reason I am doing it.

JS - hope you're as excited as I am!

SJ - what did you do at Coney?  How did you trash yours?  I'm trying to figure how far I can really go.

lep9977 - at coney, we at hot dogs and took pics outside nathans, we rode the ferris wheel, merry go round, and bumper cars, we ate cotton candy, took some photos by the arcade machines/photobooth, and at the very end took a stroll on the beach. I got in the water - was planning to go all the way in and get my hair wet but it was FREEEEEEZING when i did it in May so I probably missed out on some cool photos there.

To be honest with you, I didn't realize how filthy my dress was at the bottom after the wedding day alone. And although it got sandy/dirty at the beach, it really wasn't much worse than the wedding day dirt. Also, the beach mud turned to sand and fell on teh floor after I hung my dress up and let it dry for a few days, so it was really nothing.

I definitely had a blast, but did not destroy my dress or anything.

I did it back in October with our wedding photographer & it was AMAZING! Honestly, I think I may have had more fun taking these pics than the wedding pics...it was pure FUN, no stress. I went in water, too! The dress is fine, no damage. Also, over the summer, we wen to Jamaica & I had packed my dress (strange, I know). We took pictures on the beach & in the water. Super cool experience! I def. recommend doing it. I am going to attempt to attach a link to view the pics...Let me know if you can't see them and I'll try again.

Oh good! Yeah, I didn't tell my mom...she bought my dress. I knew she'd be mad. We ended up telling her & she flipped out. Then when she realized the dress was fine, she was ok. I say do it if you want. Why wear the dress once?!

Thank you so much! The train we were on was filthy, nasty, & grimy...I LOVED it! WinkWhat better place to take pics in a wedding dress, right?

It's fabulous!  I absolutely LOVE IT!  I have to ask though....where was the train?  I may have to steal that idea as one of the ones that I have Wink.  Thanks again for your help & imput PJB.

Knowing that I'm not the only one who wants to do this makes me realize that I'm not crazy even though some family members may think otherwise!\

    Best!

Hey girl! Totally steal the train! It was in Kingston... off Route 209 near Kingston (not sure where you live). My photographer was the one that suggested it, so I could probably get you a better address if you wanted to go there.

I think you should go for it! Think of how awesome that would be to look at when you are 80 years old! My hubby was totally into it, even if he wouldn't admit that! It took me about 2 1/2 years from wedding date to finally do it. Good luck & feel free to ask more questions.

    Jen,

If you could get me a better idea or address that would be the greatest gift a knotie has EVER given me Smile!  I don't think my FH would admit it to anyone but he's really looking forard to it as well.  We're also bringing along our German Shepherd.  She's my pride & joy & since I won't see her on the actual day I though this would be a perfect idea!  Sounds like a few muddy paw prints may end up on my dress & become a work of Riley art! LOL

    Thanks again Jen!
