Wedding Planning Updates?

Hey ladies.  I know I am an OMH (old married hag) but I still love hearing about wedding planning.  Here is the place to post all of your wedding plans that you have made (include pictures if you can!), tell us what you have left to do, anything you are on the fence about, etiquette questions, and wedding woes.  Tell us!  We aren't just here for the Bible verses :)

Re: Wedding Planning Updates?

  • You want some of mine? Lol.

We have all of the "major" stuff done, and he picked up his ring this morning! Mind is supposed to arrive at the end of the month. I'm working on my projects during the "downtime" of planning. I am going to order our invites as soon as I get the sample print from Cards&Pockets, I have to assemble them all! (I'm crazy, I know.)

  • Alison- Sounds like everything is going well!  How much longer until your wedding?
Ipilion-  Picture of your FI's ring?  I don't think you are crazy to put together your invites, it will just take a while.  What will they look like?

We've sent out STD's. People are starting to check out our wedding website, which is pretty exciting. Next up is getting my dress altered, but that won't be for a few more months. Invites will be sent out in september. Everything is booked. Just waiting now. We picked out our menu recently and I'm super excited about our food. Also, it looks like we've saved enough for an open bar, which makes FI happy. Now we're just seeing how much more we can save. If we can save enough, we might be able to invite all of my dad's 12 siblings and their SO's, versus the three (+ two SO's) that are invited now.

  • That is exciting Rachel!

  • @alisonmarie658 - Oct 26 here.
@ravenrayhttp://www.artcarvedbridal.com/Jewelry.action?details=&jewelry=8655 It's very similar to that one. I think his band is actually 10mm wide, though. As for the invites.... photo 8ba88331-7e69-4a02-b74b-7592675e758b_zps39d68eb3.jpg
That picture is actually old. In the pocket we're only going to have the RSVP & one other enclosure - double sided (map on one side and the other info on the other). We have a belly band (basically a strip of paper to hold the pocket closed) that's a grey & ivory argyle print.
  • I love his ring and the invites!  I love how they are like a letter inside of a letter!  Neat!

    @ravenray, Thanks!

    Cool looking invites @lplions!

    These are our's:

Here's what our whole package looks like:

The invite goes in the big blue envelope and the blue RSVP inside the little pink envelope (which will also be put in the big envelope).  The escort cards and thank you cards obviously won't be sent with the invite.

Oh, and because I finally figure out how to share pics on this new system, here's some pics of our centerpieces.  They're made with water beads and LED submersible lights.

    image

I made the candles in the shape of our initials myself last summer. We're going to have one of each color on each table, probably on top of a mirror provided by the venue.  Hopefully the mirror will really play up the lights and the colors.

Still debating whether or not to add a ribbon around the top to dress it up a little.

  • @RachelBFMD, I love your invites & centerpieces!!

Since we're sharing pictures.. :) I'm DIYing a TON of stuff for our wedding, some days I feel like my list is never ending! But it's allowing me the freedom to do it how I want - and (for the most part) a lot cheaper than if I bought the stuff already made.

Our centerpieces (I frosted the vases and then the candles are floating) for our seated tables. I think for the cocktail tables we will just have small votive candles.

I made this sign for our ceremony & reception. Saves me from making any sort of seating plan, besides a few "Reserved" signs for the tables for our immediate family.

One more project I've done that I'll show you on this post.... our cake topper!

@lplions, I love your cake topper. This is our's:

    image

This is my big DIY project.  I made the candles for our centerpieces as well as enough candles to give out as favors.  I made a bunch in pink, a bunch in blue, and a bunch in purple ('cause pink + blue = purple).  The purple ones will go in the centerpieces.  We actually decided against giving the pink and blue ones out as favors, so we'll probably just use them as extra decor on the tables.

That's the extent of our DIY, because we just don't have to time for any more.

  • @RachelBFMD - all I can see with your initials all lined up like that is "DR" haha! That seems like a massive undertaking though, all those candles!! Plus they look awesome! My wedding projects keep me sane from the stress of work. Plus, they give me something to do with my hands.

@lplions, haha! Yeah, we alternate between saying our initials spell "Dr." and "DNR" (as in, do not resuscitate) and "RND" (as in research and development).  We're nerds. The candles did take forever.  The worst part was breaking up the 5 pound block of wax to melt it.  Yeesh.  Literally took a hammer.

Glad your projects keep you sane! That's always an accomplishment to revel in.

  • Rachel- I love your invites and your center pieces!  We used water beads too!
Ilipion- I love your cake topper and vases!

I am so glad you guys shared pictures, is is exactly what I wanted! :)

Thanks @ravenray! It took us forever to decide on a wording. We wanted something that felt like what we would actually say, not something all formal and stuffy. We finally ended up mashing together a couple of options that VistaPrint mentioned. We really liked the & design, because of how it symbolizes us joining together in marriage.

In fact, my mom is using our invites and the & as inspiration for our program. Instead of printing a bunch and wasting paper, my mom (who paints as a hobby) is going to paint the information on a large board with designs on it similar to those on the invite and other stationary. We'll display it on an easel at the wedding, then frame it and hang it up in our house. As soon as she finishes the mock-up or the real thing, I'll post a picture.

Edited to correct grammar and typos from typing on my phone.
