URGENT!!!!! I need help regarding an amount to gift my boss's son!!!

I m attending the wedding of my boss's son this weekend. I do not know the boy or his intended. My boss and I are also not especially close.

The ouple have opted for a Wishing Well wedding (which is more couth than saying 'Greenbacks Preferred".

My problem is I am the lowest paid employee in the office - yes we are all attending- and my husband is on a medical leave and money, or te lack thereof is, very much an issue.

It is to be a wedding of approximately 150 guests held in a local hall and I am told the bride's family is doing most of it themselves.

My question is...what is an acceptable amount to gift the new couple???

Give what you can afford. If that means nothing but a card and your best wishes, that's what it means.

I'd give them a gift you find at Marshalls or T J Maxx. I understand they are requesting/implying they want cash. A tangible gift with no receipt, selected carefully, will seem to cost more than what it did cost. I still won't spend anything like what some here have suggested, given your fiances. Find a really nice collage picture frame or decorative crystal bowl. Spend $30. Wrap it well, get a nice card. Done. $40 tops.

Is there any way you could go in with some coworkers, and make a larger gift together? That way, they have no way of knowing who gave exactly what.

Give what you can afford. I think $25 in a card with well wishes would be fine. If you want to give more and can afford it, that's fine, too. Others may disagree, but I think it would be fine to give a generic wedding gift (picture frame, vase), which I am sure you could get pretty inexpensively on sale at BBB/Macy's or from a Marshall's-type store. They may be suggesting cash, but it's your choice what to give.
