Sorry - starting lots of topics. Oh well.

Re: Do you think bridal showers need alcohol?

  • It's an interesting question! I don't think they do, and if I have one I won't care either way. Pinterest has aggregated some awesome alcoholic punch recipes, but regular punch is just as good IMHO. :)
  • Um. Mine it was necessary. It was with family I haven't seen in forever...... so yes. I had wine. It was good.
  • I have been to some that have it, I have been to some that don't. Same with baby showers.

I don't think it is necessary - it is sometimes nice to have some spiked punch, but I wouldn't miss it if it weren't there.

I have also attended showers where lots of people drink lots of beer and it gets really sloppy really quickly. A shower is not a frat party! A glass of wine should do it - if it's even offered.

  • I do not think it is necessary. There will be no alcohol at mine.

  • I think it depends on the crowd you are inviting but I could go either way. Mine is going to be at my church's fellowship hall so we cannot have any alcohol at all, so it is an easy decision.
I believe mine is sorta the same - it is not a church hall, but al local building that can be rented, and a permit is needed to serve alcohol. The permit is expensive considering it is not an expense that is a necessity. It's just easier to cut it out completely. So, I *think* there will be no alcohol at my shower, but I'm not 100% sure.

  • I don't think it's necessary, but it's definitely a bonus, since as a guest watching people open present after present can get a little boring personally.

    This is very true.

And although I fully agree with the above, and this may sound preachy, but even as boring as it can be, I don't rely on alcohol to have fun or get through something boring.

It can be a tough call!!

  • I agree, I don't think it is necessary but it is a plus. I have no idea if there will be at mine or not. I wouldn't mind sipping on some wine though! Or a mimosa or screwdriver - yum!

  • I don't think it's necessary, but it's nice if there is a bar if people want to order something. Most around here are a brunch and there's usually a bowl of mimosas and bloody marys.
