Wedding Weclome Bags

Hi Everyone,

I'm sort of having a destination wedding in Santa Cruz (I'm from the Bay and currently live in Boston) and a ton of people are flying out for this or staying the night at a hotel. However, there are several wedding blocks, and I'm not sure how to deliver welcome bags to various hotels, nor do I have the time to do that.

If I want to give out chapstick, etc. as a hangover pack (I was never planning on spending a lot for these), how should I hand them out?

Thank you!!!

  • Honestly, skip it. People generally bring their own toiletry needs or find them if they forget. You could do a local treat and a couple bottles of water if you're into that, but if you're looking to save money, you can skip it all together.

I'm doing a bottle of wine and a personal written card, but I'll only have 5ish rooms.

I Mod the OUter Banks board and its the #1 beach wedding destination in the U.S., and all of us did welcome bags of some sort. We called ahead to the hotel and made sure the front desk was ok with it, and they were especially since they were getting so much business from us, and were more than happy to hand them out as guests checked in. It took all of 5 minutes to run the bags inside, of course getting them stuffed will take longer. Two of my girls were nice enough to help me out assembly style and they were done in less than 30mins. We included a map of the island with all of the tourists attractions, restaurants, etc. marked off (they come that way btw), 2 packs of Tylenol, 2 mini bottles of water, a bag of peanuts since I am from VA and a bag of popcorn since he is from Iowa. We also had Godiva chocolates, Chapstick and a really cute Welcome brochure we made with some of our favorite local spots, a crossword about the two of us and a word jumble as well. We included a big thank you letter of sorts on the first page. I have the template if you are interested. Just send me a PM.

  • Santa Cruz is my hometown.  Where are you having your wedding?

How hard will it be to deliver them to all the hotels?  We blocked at several hotels and got married 2 hours away from where we lived (with almost all guests being from further away).  We delivered the bags the weekend before, and the hotels were ok with storing them for us.

I went to one wedding where they had a welcome bag for every person at the RD.  That would work if you are inviting all of our out of towners to the RD, although I prefer getting the bag at the hotel when I check in.  Also, if you do them at the RD, I think you need to have one per guest, not per room, because it will be hard to figure out if a couple already got one, and I feel like you would either end up with a lot untaken, since people weren't sure, or you would run out.
