We've only been engaged a week & already his huge Indian family is trying to plan our big day... The only trouble is I am super shy and want to exchange vows just the two of us. We decided we will elope and have a big reception shortly thereafter...

Now we just want to find a fantastic elopement package in a beautiful warm place. Money isn't a factor, just a stress free experience. Any personal recommendations would be fantastic!

    I know this doesn't answer your question. But I wouldn't do a reception if I were you. Just do an awesome party, but no typical wedding reception stuff.

    I have always wanted to know why the bride removes her engagement ring and puts the wedding band on first then the engagement ring back on. Why is this done, and when should the switch take place?

    A little bit off-topic, but I'll answer anyway. ;) 

    Historically, this is done to show that the marriage--and husband--are closer to your heart than anything else, including material posessions--especially considering that an engagement ring is traditionally given to show that he can monetarily support her and their future family. 

    The Irish claddagh is somewhat similar--when the couple gets engaged/married, the crown of the ring is turned further from the body, to symbolize it's protection of the wearer's heart. :)

    I know that this is month's old, however I would like to know what you decided on. I would also like to know how the elopement went, my dad's side is Indian... and well "tradition is tradition".
