Rehearsal Dinner Invites: Yes or No

Hi ladies!

What are your thoughts on rehearsal dinner invites? Are they a must? We're trying to save some pennies, so we are just curious if the rehearsal dinner invites are a necessity.

Is it tacky to just let your people know when and where it is?

Thanks!

It depends on how formal the dinner is.  A very formal dinner should have formal written or printed invitations, while verbal or electronic ones would be fine for a backyard dinner.
  • We did not do printed invitations for our rehearsal dinner.  Our parents already knew the details.  We just sent out a FB message to WP members and their SO, we called grandparents to give them the information.
  • We didn't use invitations. We just verbally told people.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • We're just telling people verbally or by email/facebook/text.  But then again, ours is REALLY informal.
  • Invitations aren't necessary. Verbal/email is fine.

That being said, my FMIL is having invitations made for our rehearsal dinner because she's just so excited about it - it's taking place in a lovely room at a casual restaurant nearby but it's certainly not formal.. So it is okay to have invitations for an informal rehearsal dinner, too.

We had a formal sit down dinner for our rehearsal so we did paper invites with an RSVP.
