Rant and Rave!

Ughh so I had my annual review today which is GREAT....and I got a 40 cent raise...GREAT! Run it throug a paycheck calculator...$10 LESS per paycheck because of tax percentages! This is NOT how raises are supposed to work.

Now if only I get that job I am interviewing for Thursday, that would be WONDERFUL!

  • Rant - DH has been sick for 2 days, now I'm starting to feel bad.

Rave - don't really have one.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • According to my friend who's an economist, you can never actually make less from a raise. You are only ever taxed over a number the higher percentage, so say you were making $10,000/yr and you're taxed at 5%. You then get a raised to $12,000 and are taxed at 10%. You are not paying $1200 in taxes. You are going to pay 5% up to the original $10,000 and then 10% on whatever is into the next bracket (so  5% on $10,000 and then 10% on $2,000) meaning your taxes are actually only $700.

I can understand that, but right now all I see is my paychecks being $10 less. Which is just kind of dejecting ya know.

Rant: All the teachers that registered for a pro badge at NYCC got denied because apparently teachers aren't professionals any longer.

Rant - Link - WTH is happening in Michigan??  CN - School district closed for the rest of the year, maybe forever cos they're broke

Rave - I didn't get the job I had an interview for yesterday, which I'm actually really happy about, cos it would have been an amazing position and hard to turn down, but after the interview, I realized I'm not the best person for the job, and I'm not even sure any more it's the direction I want to be going anymore.

  • Rant: Our puppy is cuddling with FI right now and I'm jealous. Every time I pull her over toward me she walks back over to him.

Rave: I did yoga tonight and I feel awesome! And I did it in this awesome new tie-dye tank top I picked up from Nordstrom Rack for $8.

  • Rant--well not really cause I am not "mad", more so "sad" but my poor best friend broke her nose yesterday!  She is hosting my bachelorette party this weekend and so my other BF called me today to tell me and asked if  I wanted to postpone the bachelorette party (they are both hosting woth our other BF)... so my rant is I am sad I was put in the position because of course I want my friend there and since she is a host it would not be right for us to have the party without her.. but at the same time, people are flying in and I feel like we cannot make too make changes this last in the game--but since I am not in charge I cannot make the decision, of course since I do not know the details-- So I more so felt put in the middle which was a little uncomfortable.  I of course told them that I would be flexible and understood if they had to make changes.  So then my best friend (who broke her nose) called me and said do not worry, we are for sure keeping the party as is and I will make it work.  I still feel sad for her though!!  I told we can always stay in and do not have to go out; but she said no, I will not let this ruin your party.  Please send knottie vibes her way.  She is the greatest friend, and I still cannot help but feel guilty that she is hurting but is more concerned for me and my "party" ya know?

RAVE:  FI and I are working late tonight and FMIL just brought us dinner.  So sweet.
