Rehearsal Dinner Invites from a single parent

How do I word an invitation from my mom for the rehearsal dinner?  It seems clumsy to say "Please join us..." when only she is giving the dinner...

    Why not skip the "please join us" if you don't like the sound of it and say something like:
    Ms. Jane Smith
    invites you to a 
    rehearsal dinner
    in honor of/in celebration of
    mpikel and FI

    or
