Timeline question

When did you do your bride/groom first dance? do you do it immediately when you walk in and get introduced or after dinner as a way to open dance floor?

In addition, when do you do father/daughter dance and then groom/son?

Are those the first after dinner?

Just seeing how others did it?

We were announced and then went straight into our first dance.  After that, it was father/daughter then mother/son.  Then toast by the best man.  Then first course of dinner.  DJ opened up the dance floor between courses.
  • When we come in, we're being introduced and going straight to our first dance.

We have a while until dinner will be served, so we're opening up the dance floor.

Then dinner, then cutting the cake, then father/daughter dance, then mother/son dance, then opening up the dance floor again for the rest of the evening.

  • We were introduced and immediately went into our first dance.  After the first dance my Dad came out on the dance floor for the father/daughter dance and then we had the mother/son dance.  That was it for spotlight dances and spotlight anything.  We ate dinner and about an hour later the dance party started and nothing interrupted the fun until the night was over with.

Oh yeah, H and I did cut the cake but it wasn't announced because it was a last minute decision.  We just grabbed our photographer and went and cut the cake.

  • Like the others, we did first dance immediately upon being announced.  We were nervous about it and wanted to get it over with so we could enjoy our dinner.  As dinner finished, people got up and started dancing on their own and then the DJ cranked it up with dance music later on.

I've seen it done both ways.  But whenever you do it, go ahead and follow it with the other spotlight dances so they are all done at once.
