July 2014 Weddings

Ideas please

Hello ladies,

I am marrying my best friend of 10 years on July 26th, 2014 and my colors are Horizon blue (see Davidsbridal.com if you don't know what it looks like) and silver.

I have about 70% of the wedding planned but I need some help with decorations. I need ideas and things I can do so that I am not over doing one color or the other.

We are on a tight budget too so all ideas will be very helpful. Also if you can attach a picture of what you're talking about I would appreciate it, if not thats ok too.

Re: Ideas please

  • Yay we have the same day! And I'm glad you're 70% done- I'd say i'm 25% and my fiance thinks I'm planning way too far ahead lol.

What sort of decorations are you thinking of? Centerpieces?

<div>Yay! Lol. My fiance thought I was planning too far in advance as well but then when he saw the savings I could get by booking/ buying things in "off seasons" he was ok with it. I also have a wedding binder for things I can't do now so I know when to do them lol. </div><div>
</div><div>For the ceremony, we're not going to need many decorations because the venue has a lot of natural beauty. We're thinking of maybe a couple blue and silver balloons on the fence by the parking lot and a wooden sign (I will probably make it with my dad) saying "Today 2 families become one so pick a seat not a side". We will have a couple smaller flowers on some of the end chairs down the aisle and our unity candle. But besides that, there won't be much deocration needed. (Not including the flowers for the flower girl and bridal party). </div><div>
</div><div>For the reception, we're still thinking of what to do for decorations for a lot of it but as of now, we're thinking of getting some simple, elegant, clear vases and putting 3 or 5 flowers in each vase. For flowers, we were thinking either open roses (they take up more space than closed roses so you don't need as many) or hydrangeas. Instead of filling the vases with water, I am probably going to use water beads (from Walmart and like stores). They are very inexpensive and they will keep the flowers hydrated during the reception and if a vase does get knocked over, there is no water to clean up. The table cloth will be blue with either white or silver napkins depending on what color I can get (the venue is providing them and I don't remember what colors they had). We were thinking of having the lights dimmed a little  during the reception for a more romantic feeling atmosphere. I also have decided instead of everyone getting a menu card, I would get some thicker, nice paper and type up and print 1 card per table on my computer and put it in a frame (5X7) and put one on each table.</div><div>
</div><div>I'm still trying to come up with more ideas for the reception since that is where most of everyone's time will be at. The ceremony will only take about 30 minutes (if even that long).</div>
  • that sounds wonderful! Are you on Pinterest? I've gotten a lot of cute ideas for little things on there...

  • Do you have a theme at all?  You can use that theme to enhance your lighting, centerpieces, your gift table, cake/dessert table and even your buffet/hors d'oeuvres tables.

I second the Pinterest suggestion!  We got tons of inspiration from there!

<div>We do have a theme but I do not want to over do it. I have been to a couple weddings where their theme was way over done. I attached a link to a picture of what our theme is. </div><div>

  • Okay so I see two hearts becoming one them, with blue and silver sooo......

you can do some diy projects with some mod podge and silver glitter !

you can do these which i love:
spray paint silver and add blue (artificla or real) flowers in it ! so pretty and cheap
also to make it your own insert some trinkets inside balloon then blow up and tie make sure they won't fall out!

spray baby's breathe silver like this - http://pinterest.com/pin/342273640400268291/   placed in a blue vase (color of dress) buy vase at dollar tree and pick up spray paint at michaels.

Silhouettes on chair - http://pinterest.com/pin/241294492505801552/ silver and blue cardstock !!!

Cute way to sprice up tables if you are having sit down dinner - Use blue/silver cardstock - http://pinterest.com/pin/146296687865247783/

    Create a heart garland even!
  • Wow you gave me some awesome ideas! Thank you so much. I am definately going to use some of them :)
  • You could find a heart-shaped craft box or basket to use for cards and spray paint it silver with a blue/white bow or vice versa.

That is a good idea too. I think my dad is planning on making a card box for us though and painting it.
