Wedding Venue Clash

We live in Orlando and while you may think there are an abundance of places for a ceremony there are not with the restrictions the FH has brought up. He says no church, even though there are churches that will do it. He doesnt care about indoors or outdoors but I would prefer indoors - it is FL. We both want something "pretty" but he also wants to limit what part of town the ceremony will be in. I'm already conceding when the wedding will take place, but Ive declared no golf course weddings. He can tell me lots of things he doesn't want but not much about what he does want. This is holding up the whole planning process and Im at my wits end to get ideas from him. Thoughts?

Re: Wedding Venue Clash

  • May I ask why no golf course wedding?  I got married on a golf course, and look!  Waterfall!

You both need to get on the same page here. He needs to contribute ideas for what he DOES want, not just what he doesn't. I would insist he help you look for venues since he is being so limiting. Perhaps then he will see that just a list of "nos" is not helping.

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • This really doesn't sound like a clash....indoor, no church, no golf course.  That leaves tons of other options.

    Look into:
    1) Hotel Ballrooms
    2) Greenhouses
    3) Art galleries
    4) Museums
    5) Restaurants
    6) Barns
    7) Theme parks (I hear there are a couple in Orlando?)
    8) Aquariums/Zoos w/ indoor exhibits
    9) Just straight-up "Venues/Halls"....most cities have several places that are rented out for weddings almost exclusively
    10) Historic sites
    11) Mansions
    12) Plantation homes
    13) Historic banks, mints, boards of trade, etc.
    14) Atriums
    15) Historic chapels that are not actively churches anymore
    16) Microbreweries
    17) Converted factories/loft space

I mean, the list is really endless.  Just give him a list of stuff that YOU would like and see if anything strikes his fancy.  Where y'alls interests overlap will dictate where you should have the wedding. Like a Venn Diagram.
