Not sure what's going on with the board, but here are my long overdue reviews: http://bellagiowedding.weebly.com Sorry to SD210 and anyone else that was waiting for them.  I started to convert our wedding website to a review site after the wedding, but never finished it so its still a work in progress.  The main landing pages might be blank, but the navigation menu on the left has sub-menus that are fully functional.  If anyone has any questions about our locations or vendors, I will be happy to try and answer them.

What a beautiful wedding and you are gorgeous! I loved reading your reviews-I felt like I was there! The Lady in Red incident was something! LOL
  • A reception isn't a reception if at least one person doesn't drink too much! :-)

As a fellow Bellagio bride, I must confess that I stalked the boards after your wedding looking for reviews.  Wow, those were TOTALLY worth the wait.  Thank you!  You have totally made me more excited for my August wedding.  We are using so many of the same vendors (Pam, Todd, Scheme and the LED furniture folks).  I am SO glad to hear that everything went perfectly.

Also, your review are hilarious.  Your "plan" going into the Cashman meeting is priceless (oh wait, nevermind, it came at a price - - Cashman's price!)  Too funny.  But honestly, your photos are amazing.

One thing we have been struggling with is finding a location for our "first look" photos and then family photos afterwards- -but it sounds like Todd has a great understanding of the various "private" places around the Bellagio.  I really love the photos that look like they are along a quiet path outside with the lamp posts.  Do you recall where that is at the Bellagio?  We don't want to do a photo tour either - - just staying at the Bellagio.

The stuff about the Lady in Red is funny, but damn, that is very cool that the Bellagio walked her and passed her off to the Bally's folks.  We have a lot of guests staying at Bally's since it is so damn cheap.  FI and I are going to have to place bets on who will be our "Lady in Red" ... I have a couple of suspects in mind (friends who can't hold their liquor!)

Did you do the poured wine at the table?  We decided against it, but we did upgrade to the premium bar package.  I figure that everyone will be pretty well liquored up with open bar and didn't need poured wine on top of it (plus it saves us money!)  They never offered us a choice of actual physical bars to pick from (so I guess we are using the regular ones).  Do you recall your choices?  Was it a big difference in how they looked?

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for the reviews!  You rock.

Thanks.  For the record, the Lady on Red was on my husband's side of the guest list.  But on a positive note, who knew wheelchair transport would be included with the reception? :)
  • Amazing! Congrats!

SD210 - your wedding will be awesome. I can't say enough about how great everyone is at the Bellagio.

I didn't know that you were using the LED folks.  Did you decide to move your cocktail reception inside too or are you just looking for more seating, tables, ect?  The Bellagio will provide a few cocktail tables as well.

We didn't do a first look.  If we did, I would have done it under the arches in the back.  I'm not sure if you know what I'm talking about, but near the pool, there is a walkway with hedges in the form of arches that go over the walkway (really bad description - sorry).  We were going to take some family pictures back there, but just ran a little short of time.  Its a pretty spot and I always thought the arches would be the perfect location for a first look.

The path with the lamp posts is in front of the hotel.  It actually is a quiet space because everyone takes the bridges that connect to the hotel.  If you walk out the main entrance by the valet and head right towards the grassy area, you will see a fountain.  The path is a little further.

For the bar, my husband impulsively decided to switch it out when we were looking at rooms.  I want to say there were two bars set up in their model room: one directly across when you walk in and one on the left wall as you walk in, but I'm not sure about that.  We may have taken a peak at a room they were setting up for actual use and saw the other bar.  Very honestly, I can't remember what the bar we actually used looks like much less the bar we didn't.  I seriously doubt it was a big difference between them - honestly, I would save the money.

We did not do poured wine at dinner.  We also decided against putting a bottle of champagne on the tables.  I stressed a little about these, but it turned out fine.  I didn't notice a lot of people getting up to go to the bar during dinner.  Maybe we aren't a refined crowd, but most people drank liquor (not wine) all night anyway.

Don't worry too much about Bally's.  We had some guests stay there too.  The outside was a wreck - the "moving sidewalks" didn't move, and I didn't hear very good things about the buffet.  I didn't look at all the rooms, but tell your guests to use the $20 trick and request an upgrade to the North Tower.  All of the rooms were redone in the North Tower and they were fine.  The pool was also fine - it isn't fancy, but its large, it had DJ and some good drink specials.

ELaw, thank you!  Yes, we moved our cocktail hour inside because of the heat.  I wanted to make a lounge like area to sort of distinguish between the ballroom and the cocktail hour.  Sounds like our set up will be very similar to yours!  We are doing a few lighted cubes and high tops, with some white furniture, with the rest of the high tops being from the Bellagio.  It's important to me that people be able to put their drinks down to enjoy the appetizers, etc.  Like you guys, we really loved the idea of having cocktail hour outside, but in August that is just not possible!

Also, thank you for the recommendations re: photo locations.  We will definitely check those areas out.  We are doing our photos before the ceremony so that we can get to the party!  Our ceremony is going to be outside on the covered Grand Patio, but everyone will be held inside in the AC until the last minute, given some bottled water, then taken outside for the ceremony that will last only be 10 minutes max.  It's at 7pm, so hopefully the heat will not kill everyone (they will have the shade of the cover over the Grand Patio to block out any setting sun, so that is good!)

I'm also relieved to hear that Bally's North Tower is not mess.  We went out there in April and I was pissed that the moving sidewalks and fountains were all broken and dirty, since I have a lot of friends and family staying there.  I believe they are in the North Tower, so that is good.

I'm also relieved to hear that the poured wine / champagne wasn't missed.  Glad we are cutting that out now.  Also, we will pass on upgrading the physical bar.  Thank you for the tips!!!

  • I've noticed that most people I know don't really drink champagne at weddings. Some people love it, but some people hate it. Most people I see drink a sip during the toast and then go back to drinking their beer and so on. We nixed the champagne toast, which saved us about $200 (it might save even more, depending on the venue).
  • one word-WOW
