Howell Opera House

Hi all! Venue question.

I love the photos of the Howell Opera House. My fiance called them on Monday and I called again today--no return calls yet. Does anyone have any experience with them and know if this is typical? I would think they would call back within 48 hours, but is it normal for it be longer for rental venues?

I see that they are active on their FB page (they posted an event on Monday, asking people to call if they had questions about it).

I'm a little anxious because my other option was Sacred Heart Banquet Center and their cheapest standard package pricing was still over my budget ($8,000 is my whole budget currently; if I do well in an interview tomorrow, maybe I can bump the budget up to $12,000! Wish me luck!)

    I also had a lot of communication issues with them. I was able to eventually set up an appointment to visit. As we were exiting 96, they called to say that we couldn't come as they were going to have a board meeting at that time. I explained my fiance was in from out of state for the weekend to look at venues with me and maybe we could at least peek in and not disrupt their meeting.... the woman I talked to wouldn't have it... I never set up a followup.

    This is my venue and that's my budget, haha.  They are tough to communicate with sometimes.  I think it is pretty much volunteer run so while the woman who does all the rentals is on top of things, she still isn't there all the time.  I know it's hard to communicate with them, but so far that sacrifice has been worth it to have such a cool venue for such a great price.  I could say more about the communication after the next few weeks, when I'll be talkin to them all the time since my wedding is getting close!!! :)

    I had a really good experience there this past weekend actually! I called and someone told me the lady in charge would get back to me. I got impatient and called the following day, and the lady in charge answered. She told me to visit the following day, which I did :) and it all worked out fine! That's my budget too! I definitely suggest calling back until you just get the right person on the phone, because the gorgeous venue is worth it! :)

    Hey ladies, sorry, haven't checked this board in forever! We were able to get a hold of Sharon after a week of persistent calling. We checked this place out and loved it--buuut they make you choose from 3 caterers, and I have my own (a friend from HS) that I wanted to use (and works with my budget). We went with the Wixom Community Center instead!
