Re: Timeline Help!

  • Whats the difference in the Welcoming of the guest at 4:15 and greeting the guest at 5:30? Maybe that can be merged some how. It seems like a pretty tight schedule but If you can squeeze it all and run a tight ship you can make it happen. Is there no time for partying or dancing for the guest? And I dunno if the guest will be able to eat dinner then grab cupcakes in a 30 min interval especially depending on how long it takes to disperse the dinner if you have a large guest list (50+). If I were you I would speng the extra 100 but only if you cna afford it. You want to be as relaxed and not feel rushed on your special day as possible but if this is what you have to work with then make sure its not rushed. Maybe you could have some sort of cocktal hour or guets meet and greet in between since your wedding is so early. Spending that 100$ for something like that to take place after your wedding but before your recption could give you more time at your reception. Just a thought.
  • I could just greet the guest at either time. I would like dancing but I don't
even know if my guest would dance or not. The food is being dispersed as a family style sit down buffet. The servers will dispense the cupcakes out to the guests. I don't really have time for a cocktail hour or meet n greet on the wedding day. after the ceremony ends the guests will taken a double Decker bus tour from 1-4pm while we take photos then the bus will drop guests off at reception. If I were to add an extra hour and have the reception from 4-8 could u show me how the timeline should flow?

  • 4-8 is a long time especially since they took a bus tour. Just think of it like this the guest will be at your wedding events from 12pm-8pm which is 8 hours on the go. So if you have young children attending your wedding I pray their parents are prepared. You might want to consider some sort of snack or something being served since 12-5 with no food and such could be hard on some. Also depending on how many guest you have and how fast the food is being served and eaten will determine the rush factor since there can be long lines for buffet food plus those who go back for 2nds and such. Could you possibly get a cupcake tower set up and let the guest get their own cupcakes and do the farewell at the end with everyone holding them as a desert toast to you as a couple? Or it could go like this:

    4:00 Coordinator/MC will announce the Bridal Party & Bride & Groom4:30 First Dance5:00 Dinner Served5:30 Best Man & Maid Of Honor Toast6:00 Cupcake Serving6:15-7:15 Music and Mingling7:30 Bouquet & Garter Toss7:40 Bouquet & Garter Catchers Dance7:45- 8:00 Farwell

Could you maybe cut the bus tour and spend the 100 and start at 3 ? If I was your guest I wouldnt want to be a on a bus tour for 3 hours. Cause like pp I would been got off and got something to eat and do some other stuff. Thats a long time going with nothing to eat considering ppl will only had just eat breakfast that morning and then going thru the afternoon with no lunch might to much for some ppl. Just my 2cents

FleurdeLaDay The timeline will be 4-7 not 4-8. No children at all! It's not a buffet the food will be served on platters to the guest in front of them so no one has to get up to get their food.  Their willl be a cupcake tower and they can get their own cupcakes.

this is how i had the new time line.

4:00 Coordinator/MC will announce the Bridal Party & Bride & Groom

    4:15 First Dance

    4:30 Dinner will be served

5:00 Best Man & Bridesmaid Toast

    5:30-6:30 Music/ Mingling

    6:30 Bouquet & Garter Toss

6:40 Bouquet & Garter Catchers Dance

  • No, i can't cut the bus tour because if i do that then we can't take our photos on the strip after the wedding.plus that is the only time for my reception 4-6pm or 2-4pm.  I can ask the bus company if i can serve snaks on the bus i know you can serve drinks.

No we won't be on their it will just be the guest. I think i will see if the bus will stop so everyone can get something to eat. we will be on our photo strip tour for the three hours. I don't think it will be that hot since the wedding is in April at 12noon.

Yes, it's from 1-4. We are mostly staying on the strip but i was thinking with traffic and stuff we would need that time.

  • Ohhh OK.. that's good you have time so you don't have to rush.. I don't think we will be taking the normal strip photos.

  • My 3 cents.

    1) Most weddings are 8 hours so I don't think that's a big deal at all

    2) Being on the bus tour is essentially your cocktail hour for your guests. Even in April, 1-3 is basically the hottest time of the day. I would keep the bus tour cut it to 2 hours and provide small snack bags on board (bottled water, disposable camera, cheezits, fruit snacks, trail mix) you get the idea.

Your wedding starts at 12 , meaning I would be getting ready at 9:45 to be there on time and potentially waiting until 5.

Even if you dont cut the time. Throw those snack bags on there!

    3) I think 3 hours for your reception is fine. Ours was about the same (daytime wedding) and by the time it was over. 50% of our guest had left and we were exhausted!

  • I don't want to cut the bus tour to 2 hours because we are doing a photo strip tour at the same time the guests will be on the tour.
I will provide the guest with bags of water and snacks.
