Suggestions for Purple Flowers

Our wedding colors are black and purple with silver as an accent color. Does anyone have any suggestions for types of flowers that come in purple? I know of several common ones but I figured some of you may have some ideas I hadn't thought of yet. These would be for the wedding party (guys' boutonnieres and girls' bouquets) but also probably for ceremony and/or reception decorations. The wedding is in April so they probably need to be ones that bloomed in Spring/Summer :)

Roses and tulips obviously come in shades of purple. Cala Lillies. Lilacs. Irises. Hydrangeas. You could probably order gerbera daisies in purple.

  • Lavender, allium, orchid, freesia, aster, rose of sharon

  • I'm doing those same colors but I mainly ordered white flowers. I went with silk flowers but any flower is likely able to be dyed. I used hydrangias, lily of the valley, purple ranunculus, calla lilies and lilies.
  • Stock, carnations, hydarngeas, tulips, roses, mini callas, orchids, larkspur, lilac, iris, asters, daisies, lisianthus, statice...

  • i think many can be dyed purple too. ask your florist.

  • Thanks for the suggestions everyone. There are a few that I hadn't even thought of, so this was really helpful :)

I am using purple flowers too!  We went with a mixture of white roses and these beautiful purple flowers my florist called lizzies?  We also have some of the purple/white calla lilli's-- I blanked on their official name.

    EDIT: Picasso Calla Lillies!

  • There's been a lot of good suggestions, but I wanted to add one of my favorite purple flowers (besides Irises):  Wysteria.  They make gorgeous drapes in arrangements.  Loooove wysteria.

I've always been curious about what those flowers were called until now. I also love Irises, and I just googled and I am absolutely in love with these flowers! Our colors are purple, white, and silver so this would be perfect for a full bouquet in which I'm hoping to have. Thanks for this suggestion!

Well, there are hydrangeas, irises, lilacs, pansies, orchids, lavender, hyacinths, wisteria, violets, azaleas, and many others.  Not all may be suitable for bouquets or boutonnieres though.  I'd check with a florist.
