How do you tell people to bring a sweater?

We were looking at on outdoor reception, by the lake, in October and I was worried about guests getting chilly. How do I give people a little heads up? Many people probably are thinking "Vegas is always hot!" and I'm worried. Any ideas for when word of mouth might not work?

If you have a website, you can have some information about average temperatures, and make it very clear that the reception will be outside, and guests can decide what to wear based on that information. I get cold easily, so I always pack a sweater, but my H, who is warmblooded, would not think to without the extra info.

However, really it's the hosts' responsibility to make sure guests are comfortable. If you look at the almanac and think it may be too cold, you can rent tent heaters, or move the reception inside. Plan B's aren't just for rain.
