Nevada-Las Vegas

New to the board. have a million questions about my vegas wedding hopefully you guys can help..

my wedding is september 7th, we will be staying in vegas from september 6th-9th. I am on a very tight budget . My fiance and his parents and siblings will be flying in from atlanta georgia, and I will be driving from victorville, ca with my guests. Because of this I decided to just have a small wedding ( about 10 guests) of close friends and family. So here's me list of questions..

- I want to have a after wedding dinner ( semi-reception) at one of the vegas buffets, I will be paying for everyone so does anyone have any suggestions for a good price, I don't mind paying 30-50 as long as I get my moneys worth.
- Do you know any hotels that have good priced Honey moon suites?
- What are some good activities to do with the group afterwards and before the ceremony, where are they, what is the cost?
- What are some good hotels off the strip?
- I also wanted to plan to go to a show or do a activity the next day with just my husband any recommendations?

As you can see I'm kind of overwhelmed lol. any advice and help would be appreciated. thanks ladies.

  • Welcome!!! Lots of buffets to chose from. I personally picked Wicked Spoon at Cosmo because of the reviews and heard it was nice from a friend of mine. Dinner is $39 per person. They also offer drink packages starting at $25 if that is something you're interested in. I think most dinner buffets are around that price range give or take...

I have only been to one vegas show, "KA" at MGM. It was great!! We got a deal on tickets with the room. I would also like to see LOVE and Absinthe but not sure what your personal preference is.

A number of people rent a double decker bus to tour the strip or downtown before or after dinner. That is $350 for two hours. You could also go to the LV sign and take photos with your group, or watch the Bellagio fountains afterwards. If you rent a suite, you could invite 10 guests to the suite for a mini after party. If you stay near the bellagio, you can watch the fountains from the suite and mingle. Hope this helps as a starting point.
  • Wicked spoon seems to be a top choice on here.

As for shows! I have seen almost all of them. But depending where you stay you can sometimes get a discount. Also you can find show tickets on sale online - vegas.com or smarter vegas. My top 4 favorite shows were all cirques.

1- Ka - loved it! But as a first show, if you plan to go back and see others, I wouldn't recommend it if you plan to see others in vegas, this will make your expectations high for the rest.
2 - Mystere - Great show! Its about acrobatics.
3 - Love - Another great show, this is Beatles themes
4 - O - Is a water based show, which is pretty awesome, but can be a little slow at times.

    Others I have seen:
David Cooperfield - he was pretty good, it was a different type of show.
Crazy horse - I liked this one, I dont mind boobs and asses. It was all interesting.
Zumanity - I wouldn't waste your money, but that is my opinion.
Phantom of the opera - I was so bored with this one, I wanted to leave half way through - Its closed now I believe.
Elvis Cirque  at aria - Now closed as well, I also thought this was a waste of money. I have heard good things about the new one that opened up in this theater though.

  • Good hotels off strip - there is Red Rock, The M and also Green Valley Ranch.  I've never stayed at them, but have gone to gamble and they all seem really nice.

If you are looking to save money on shows and don't mind waking up early try the half price show tickets.  They have several locations on the strip, they usually open around 9am.  People get there early to get in line because the best shows will go first.  You basically buy a voucher and then take that to the box office of the show and pick your seats based on the price section you buy.  We've done this for Mystere, Love and Zumanity and were happy with our seats each time.  The key is to go right the box office as soon as you can.  I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Cirque show - they are all amazing!

For the buffets I have seen the Spice Market @ Planet Hollywood recently on Groupon, dinner and unlimited drinks for 2 for $45.  I'm personally not a fan of Wicked Spoon, we went for brunch and the server spilled coffee all over my FI, we were flying out that afternoon and had already checked our lugged, he had to go all day with coffee stains.  The staff was not empathic about the incident either.
We had our dream wedding at Mirage on May 3, 2014!

  • From a value standpoint, hard to beat the Go Mini-suite at Flamingo; great location, great view if you get one facing the Bellagio, central strip, lots of things to do close by.  Probably would be easier if we know your room budget to make recommendations as there are of course much more luxurious options available, for a price.

As far as shows go, I don't really like Cirque shows; after seeing a couple they all got really boring to me.  I had a great time at Absinthe at Caesars and Anthony Cools at Paris this month, both are pretty adult themed (http://www.vegasgroom.com/vgblog/2013/05/first-trip-of-2013/), I also really like Jersey Boys, haven't seen it since it moved from Palazzo to Paris but I'm sure it's the same show.

Married in Vegas - June 2011

  • Well, hello fellow September 7th bride :)

Any buffet will provide you with what you want for the price you want to pay. I'm going to be at Paris Village Buffet (so maybe choose another one hahaha :P) but all buffets under Caesar's Entertainment are about the same price and quality!
