Second Weddings

Second Wedding ( my 10yr old son is walking me down the aisle)

So this is my second wedding for me and the 1st time for my FI. I wanted to do something different and have my 10yr old son walk me down the aisle and give me away. My son is sooo excited to do this! We have decided to not have a wedding party and just have our kids in the wedding my son & his 19yr old daughter. not only am I happy about that but I'm super excited now! Received my invitations in the mail on Friday! I wasn't this happy with my first wedding so I know this is different! Just wanted to share this with every bride to be second go round!

  • Sounds like a great wedding plan!

@ beautifulmama Idoubt you have a 50 yr old boy.... the typo made me do a double take and then smile...
  • My son escorted me.  He had just turned 11.   My 14 year old daughter was my maid of honor [I had one of DH's adult daughters sign the license].  DH's son was to be his best man, but he died unexpectedly 6 months before the wedding, so one of his brothers stepped in.

We actually had all of DH's children and grandchildren process in with him, then mine walked with me.  When we all gathered at the altar, the officient asked "who gives this man and this woman to be married" and they all said "we do", then sat down.

I was a widow, DH was divorced many years ago.  It was a great way to start a new life with our big, blended family.  DH's ex wife [mother of his children] and her DH were actually there, too.

<div>As of right now the count sits at about 60 but 10-12 of those are kids so ours is pretty low key too, just close friends and family :)</div>

  • My son (9 years old) will be escorting me down the aisle next month. It has been "he and I" for so long, and he is very proud to walk me. I do refer to it as "escorting" rather than "giving me away" for obvious reasona. Mama aint going nowhere! Laughing

My future step daughter (12 yrs) is my one and only bridesmaid and my future step son (16 yrs) is my fiance's best man.

    Its perfect for us! Laughing

  • This is a pic of my sons walking me the aisle.  My daughter was my MOH, while my husbands 4 boys were his Best Men. We only had our children in our WP. It worked out beautifully.
  • I am getting remarried and I am going through so many mixed emotions.  My first husband remarried 3 years ago I believe.  It was hard on my sons, but they have always been respectful of their dad and his new wife.  Now I am planning on getting remarried in September and both of my sons agreed to walk me down the aisle (15 and 20 years old).  My future husband is having his oldest son stand up for him - he has always been very supportive.  However, his daughter and ex wife have put me through the "ringer" as well as my kids for 4+ years.  Rather than enjoying the preparations, I am just feeling so odd about enjoying this as their gossip has caused me so much grief through the years.  I have refused to retaliate, therefore, they have never really stopped with the gossip.  So, any advice as to how to enjoy the preparations, where to shop for a wedding dress since it is my second wedding, etc?
  • LOVE IT!!! My 11 yr old son is walking me down the aisle and he keeps telling ppl hes "getting rid of mom" and my 8 yr old is a groomsman who keeps saying "im standing with my extra dad to make sure he knows which one mom is when shes all dressed up". My 6 yr old son is a ring bearer.  (were a house full of jokers).

My2Sunz.... I bought mine at Davids. A second wedding is no less special than the first. FI and I both had vegas rushed weddings the first time. this time we're truly doing what we want... having the wedding of our dreams.

Its so exciting to have the kids be part of it.

  • This is my second and his first. My father is still living but I really want my 15 year old son to walk me down the isle. I am concerned this will hurt my Dad's feelings. Suggestions? A way to incorporate them both?
