DIY Center Peice Suggestions

My wedding is in October and I'm very thrilled about having a "fall" wedding. I think I've narrowed my colors down to orange, burgany or red, ivory, and possibly some sage thrown in. I want to have a fall/rustic look. The reception is probably going to be in the a large barn. I'm thinking I want to do the linens in ivory and have ivory pumpkins on the tables with orange, red, and sage flower arrangements coming out of the pumkins. Does this sound like a good idea? Anything I need to add to the tables?

Any time I hear of burgundy/red and green, I think Christmas.

What about navy, sage, and ivory? Maybe a few pops of orange?

  • I'm not big on the navy. I'm wanting to keep with the following colors the leaves look in fall. I want to also incorporate fall things but steer clear of the halloween look.
  • I think that incorporating pumpkins, gourds, etc. always screams fall, and isn't halloweeney unless you carve faces on them...

As for colors, I think dark orange and burgundy are very fall - ivory really isn't, but it is more wedding-like and is a neutral so I'm sure it would tie in well. I, personally, don't like having but so many colors involved, but if you really want the sage green I don't think it will look like Christmas since it's such a muted color.

  • What about throwing in some soft peaches instead of the reds (second picture below) or going for some deep pinkish reds (first picture...even though I think the weird black plastic thing is ugly). imageimage

  • Thanks for y'alls help! I do agree that either peach or a deep pinkish red would be better. Agreed on the black plastic thing..not sure what's up with that. I'm glad to hear that pumkins can be used without "halloween" being the theme. I'm wanted to use orange and ivory colored pumkins. When I get a chance I will put some pics on here and y'all can tell me what you think. :)
  • Nah I think pumpkins/gourds can easily be done in good taste. Looking forward to see what you come up with :)

  • I'm having a fall wedding too and our idea is to save wine bottles and then take off the labels and spray paint them in one of my wedding colors. Then we're gonna fill it with sand or something to weigh it down and put some flower sprays and branches and stuff in it from Michaels or some place like that.
  • Besides pumpkins there are also many different kinds of gourds that come in oranges, yellows, creams, and some other colors. You could maybe use some of those in addition to pumpkins to make some different centerpieces. Or even baby pumpkins. I know those come in orange and white and fit in your hand :) I love the colors you chose. I think if you don't overdo the green stuff it would be fine. Like having the red, orange and ivory as your main colors and the sage as an accent color.
  • I like the ideas of candles. You can have the color and scent tie in with your theme.
