Does anyone have any experience here?  I'm not sure how new they are, but my fiance wishes i never showed it to her!  lol

Any idea how many people we can it inside with out being cramped.  If the weather is nice...then i don't have an issue as the majority can hang out outside.

Thoughts?

If you go to the Knotties list, you can sort by reception venue. I can't access it at work.

And if you go here: http://www.vegasgroom.com/  You can find a ton of information about having a wedding in Vegas. Like, seriously... a TON.

Our wedding is april....we are hoping to book the room asap, because with my luck the room will sell out.   It's between the vista and the skyline right now.   Most likely vista..i just wish it was more in the heart of the strip.

If you find out anything, please let me know

    thanks!

  • I just checked out that skyline suite. It is AMAZING!!! Have you received any room rates etc for it? We are possibly thinking of having an in suite meet and greet the night before our wedding in April 2014 if we dont go with a restaurant venue. Vista suite for the night will be about $500 which is great value but I much prefer mgm location.

Yeah i mean...the price is decent..i think it was about 700 for a wed and thur night in april before taxes and fees.   I don't know about the corkage fee...i was just going to sneak everything in the best i can.   I spoke to master cuisine and they said the security is tighter there but they never had an issue to date.

The room size is just haunting me.   But the location is so much nicer then mandalay bay.

And yes they are different from the skylofts....that would be really nice though!

  • Im so anxious about the sneaking in haha. How many guests will you be having. Ive read that these suites are best for up to 30 guests if that helps. Inside the suite doesn't look very big at all so here is hoping there is great weather for the patio. Thanks for sharing info on the suite though because I didn't even know it existed.

getting caught is always a concern and an issue.   But if you think about it...the hotels are so massive and there are always so many things going on....what are the chances of it being caught?

Right now we are looking at about 20 definates...could be 35 at the highest.   There is no way 30 people are fitting inside.  Also, what are the chances of it raining in vegas during the driest month of the year?
  • I keep telling myself that because we have a garden wedding so I'm praying for beautiful weather! Those suites are just gorgeous though. Do you know if the suites require room key access for the floors? How will you / have others managed to get guests up to an insuite function without attracting any additional attention.

I haven't heard anything about the room itself needing a key for the elevator.  I know at most places that after 9pm you need to show a room key to a security guard.   Worst case...have a friend run people up.  We also plan on hiring a host and a bartender from culinary pros.....Worst case i'll have the host run down.

Noise is typically the thing that causes problems.  You're correct on how busy they are, if you sit in a lobby for a few minutes all kinds of people will be wheeling random things across the lobby so it's probably quite easy for a caterer to move through too.  The hotel staff probably wouldn't even know they're not part of the hotel taking stuff to some vip.

  • Bingo. People wheel coolers full of beer, garment bags, boxes of blow-up dolls, balloons, and all sorts of stuff through the lobby all the time, so a caterer isn't really going to attract any attention as long as they aren't all flashy about it.

When I talked to Masterpiece Cuisine about my Vista suite reception, they said they knew exactly how to maneuver around MB to attract the least attention. I'm sure it's the same with MGM. If they don't feel they can "sneak" the food in, they (or whoever you're hiring) will let you know.
  • We did the tour of the Terrace Suite, the patio is so gorgeous!!!  The inside (downstairs) is tiny though, so you really have to plan to have most of the party outside.  I love that the bedroom is upstairs and seperate.  I wasn't worried about bringing in food/ beverage since there isn't any security at the elevators.  The patio is really spacious, but I personally wouldn't feel comfortable having more than 25 people out there.
  • Kelly, can you tell me which tower these suites are in? ie is it a long walk through the MGM casino to get to the suite?

Do you realistically think that it's possible to have a party with catering for 30 people maybe 35 in this room?
  • I'm not sure the name of the tower, but it's the one that's closest to the front desk.  We walked into the front of the casino, hit the checkin desk on the right, and then it was the first tower on the right.  The shortest way is definitely through the front of the casino.
  • What did the suite have for sound system?  I-pod docking station?
  • I actually cancelled my reservation for the room.  After talking to other people and the caterer's (MC), they have expressed some isssues that they had with staff at MGM with getting food/vendors up to the room.
  • I can't believe MGM is so uptight about it.  I did a project with them during school and they were showing off the suites practically promoting big parties.  I guess they want you to use their vendors for a hefty fee!
We had our dream wedding at Mirage on May 3, 2014!
