Need motivation

I need to lose 10 lbs in 5 months?  My problems are cutting out weekend binging and wine (I live by Napa and drink entirely too much wine).Any tips/suggestions for motivation. I know that if I eat healthily and go to the gym nightly I will see results I just lose motivation to not snack/drink every night. So frustrating.
A wedding is a party, not a performance. If at the end of the day you are married to the one you love, then everything went perfectly.

I made myself a motivational poster and stuck it on the fridge lol It basically just says GOAL with a picture of a wedding dress and a bikini since I wanna be in shape enough to wear a bikini. Dunno if that'd help you but that's what I do :P
  • don't keep junk food in the house, and take a class or join a workout group.  I also have trouble staying motivated if the workout is not scheduled.
  • Could you set a goal just to cut back on the wine?  It's so hard, but maybe limit yourself to one weekend a month instead of every weekend?  Cutting back on alcohol has been really key to jump-starting my weight loss.  It's not just the calories in the booze, but when I drink I tend to snack, especially on unhealthy choices.  I totally agree with the visual motivators too - put pictures up of skinny brides, etc.
  • Try logging your work-outs on dailyfeats.com... I have been more motivated and been better about my workouts when I feel accountable.  I also use a jogging journal to log miles.  If you feel the need to snack, try having a glass of water and a low-cal snack like celery.  If you still feel the need to snack, get up and do something to take your mind off of your stomach, like take a shower, read a book.  Last, when I have problems, I have a couple of people that I call for support.  Maybe one of them would want to workout with you, and you will feel more accountable to them.  Just remember that the first week or so of making a habit is the hardest.  You can do it!
  • Logging your food and activity is a great starter.  I did for about two months and just by cutting back a tad I lost 5 lbs in two weeks.  There are tons of calorie counters out there -- My Fitness Pal, Self.com, About.com, WebMD, SparkPeople.  Even if you don't track your calories long-term, it's a good way to get a clear-cut picture of where your calories are coming from and how you can improve.

I had a problem with getting too many calories from alcohol as well.  My favorite White Russian is made with cream so it can really bust a diet.  I switched to only having them for special occasions, like going out or having friends over, and started using smaller glasses.  I definitely think it helped.
