Good morning, ladies. We had really bad thunderstorms last night and Lucy was terrified and peed in the bed not once but several times. I couldn't kick her out of the bed because she was really, really scared so I ended up putting a towel down in the case of more accidents. Poor baby :( Needless to say, I did not have a great night last night and I'm running on less than 4 hours of sleep today.

Friday I went to happy hour with my BFF at a local bar. It's all outside, on the water, and has sand and fire pits. It was a good time!

Saturday, H and I ran some errands and then drove down to the beach which was awesome. I got a little color and it was so nice to lay there and just relax. We went out with some friends that night but headed home pretty early since we were both tired from being in the sun all day.

Yesterday, I did laundry and straightened up the apartment. I also prepared my breakfast and lunch for the work week which made me feel pretty productive. I watched a couple movies and the season premier of 'The Killing' which I'm excited is back! Does anyone else watch?

Re: How was your weekend?

  • Good morning! @rdr716 sorry to hear about Lucy! I wouldn't let her off the bed either!

Friday afternoon I got out of work early. BF picked me up and we used the pool for the first time! It was a little cold but once you're in you're used to it. Friday night we used our fire pit and had some Dairy Queen.

Saturday we went grocery shopping, then I made Greek pasta salad (again) and guac (again). BF's friends came over with their kids so we all hung out in the pool all day. I made homemade strawberry daiquiris and by the end of the night myself and one of BF's friends put a good dent in the rum. Needless to say, the guys GF wasn't too happy about it, but she never is. She says I'm an "enabler" whatever. They left, I ate guac on the couch and watched that damn Liberace movie again. Then I passed out. That's all I remember.

Sunday I fought off a hangover, did laundry and got some sun. I had my friend come over and we hung out in the pool (which at this point is warm). I got an AWESOME sunburn. I came into to work today and people kept telling me I should go home. It's red but it doesn't hurt. At least it happened now and not on vacation.

So, all in all it was a good weekend! Next weekend is going to be a bitch since I have a million things to do before we go away but hopefully it'll all get done.

  • Good morning, all! Friday night BF and I were both exhausted, so we kind of took turns falling asleep on the couch. Last week was long for both of us.

Saturday BF had gaming in the evening, and I think we played Lego Batman in the afternoon? I looked through my yarn stash, and I found two skeins of Red Heart Economy. I'm working on crocheting them into two lapghans.

Sunday BF and I watched the last 4 episodes of Mythbusters and most of the last season of Futurama. He got about half of his laundry done, which is about average for a laundry day.
  • good morning!

Friday night we all hung out in the cellar together, eating pizza in between tornadoes.  it was super exciting.  we got to go home late that night.  thankfully, all the major flooding (2 to 4 feet of water in the streets) was a few blocks north of us.  otherwise we would not have made it home!  we slept about 2 hours Friday night because the storms were so crazy.  the weather forecasters kept calling it a hurricane at that point!

Saturday we woke up and assessed the damage.  H and I worked on digging fence posts out of the ground until my dad and bro came over to help.  then I got to work on cleaning up the area where we had some flooding.  tonight I need to remember to buy some cement caulking for the outside of the house.  we have more rain coming this week and they are warning us about flash flooding...  I don't want THAT again!

most of the city was inaccessible on Saturday.  we desperately needed groceries, so we packed up and drove through the May 20 tornado damage to get to a suburb that had electricity (and therefore, groceries in their stores).  normally it takes us about 15-20 minutes to get there, but we were in the car for an hour and a half.  ah!!  we stayed up there for a while..  got a late lunch, went to my favorite coffee shop/bakery and I got an iced coffee, hung out at the OU campus... and then braved the grocery stores.  took us an hour to get home (not as bad).  I made fresh Margarita chicken with a grilled corn salsa for dinner, baked cookies for the neighbors, and we started watching The Office from the beginning because we haven't seen every episode.

Sunday...  we went to church and I napped and cleaned the house.

    whew!!

@buddysmom80 : you better wear sunscreen!!

@rdr716 : both our dogs slept in the bed last night.  I wanted to kick Bax out, but he was so sweet I just couldn't do it.  so I missed sleep due to pups, too.  *sigh*  I hope you get some rest tonight!  I plan on it!

@buddysmom80- I'm sorry about the sunburn but you will be nice and tan after it heals and then you won't have to worry about getting a bad one on vacation.

Friday was supposed to be a crafting night with @lmhollister...but we just drank. So we will be finishing our crafts tonight after we go visit her new home! yaay!!!

Saturday I went to FI's tennis match (he won!) and even though he won, he wasn't satisfied with his serve so he was kind of pissed about that. There was this jerk guy there who kept on yelling and distracting him during his serve. I wanted to punch him in the face. Luckily, one of his team mates went over there to tell him to quiet down. Then we went to the pool with some friends and afterwards we got dinner and saw "Now you see me". That movie was pretty good. I haven't seen anything like that in a while.

Sunday we went to the Braves game! They won both series now against the Nationals so despite the rain it was a good game. Then I slept at my mom's since my dad went out of town after the game and we watched "Safe Haven" On Demand. I thought it was good. I love sappy movies.
  • My weekend sucked :(

Friday night M's roommate didn't get home until after 7, and still hadn't packed, so we were late leaving.  I spent the 4 hours in the car reffing a "Can we name all of the first series pokemon in order" challenge.

Saturday was rough.  Our heat was scheduled at 11, so we were supposed to be in the parking lot at 9.  M's other roommate who wasn't running told us 2 hours wasn't enough time, so we needed to be there earlier.  We went with it, thinking he was right, and ended up spending an extra hour in the sun because of it.  It was 90* by 10AM, and by the time our heat got started (at 11:20), I got through about two obstacles and then got pulled from heat exhaustion.  Add to the fact that all the benadryl in the world couldn't change the fact that this was on a hay farm and I couldn't breathe...Saturday sucked ass.  M and the rest of the team finished though!  They took about 3 hours longer than expected because of the heat, and they were the last group to do the whole course.  TM staff had to shut down a large chunk because they didn't have enough medical staff to deal with the amount of heat stroke calls they were getting.  At one point M said they were near a guy who was considered "critical".  Apparently he hadn't passed out, but M said he wasn't all there.  Scary shit.

Yesterday I figured out just how much sunburn I have.  The sun kicked my ass, so I spent most of the day in bed/on the couch not moving.  I'm actually still feeling nauseated, and I'm still exhausted, but I'm hoping the coffee will help.

Hilarious notes from TM (I promise I'll post pictures later):

    1. We were the Stardust Unicorns Express Team.  M had his hair spray-colored hot, glittery pink.  Three washes Saturday didn't get it all out.

    2. They require you to get sharpied with your number on exposed skin.  I now have white numbers on both of my arms from where the sharpie prevented the sunburn.

    3. The first obstacle we had was you had to get over a 6/7ft wall to get into the start pen.  I jumped, grabbed the top, and just hung there.  There were two guys standing at the bottom helping people over.  Wearing thongs.  I got helped over the wall by tall man in bright yellow thong.  The other guy was wearing pink.

    4. Some guy decided to run this thing in a loincloth.  I saw his peen as he did the monkey bars.

@rdr - sorry about Lucy! That's no funsies for anyone.

Friday - I had a bachelorette that my co-workers hosted. It was really more of a couples thing...and it was a BLAST. We started at a local place downtown for beers and appetizers. One of my co-workers covered the entire tab for 9 people - SO GENEROUS! Then we bar hopped for a bit. FI and I didn't pay for anything, which was really nice of everyone. I drank way too much, had a blast sneaking one friend into places (she'd forgotten her ID in another purse) and I believe FI and I even did a couple body shots off of each other on the bar at one of the places. It was a night to remember.

Saturday - Surprisingly I did not wake up with a hangover! This was my bridesmaid-hosted bachelorette day. The girls picked me up a 2pm (Thank goodness I was able to sleep in and hydrate for a couple hours before hand!) and we went horseback riding. They'd made me a cowgirl hat with a veil sticking out the back. There was only one other girl on our trail ride so it was mostly all our group. The ride was a blast and the owner said we could come back for a free 1-hour ride if we posted a yelp review. Sweet! Then we went back to my place for showers and got pretty-fied. Headed over to my BM's house about 5:30 and had dinner & cocktails. Each girl brought the fixins for a specialty drink...so I had something new every round. I have some WONDERFUL new drink recipies now! We played Cards Against Humanity, watched 80s movies and had the most amazing cupcakes for dessert. It was another night to remember!

Sunday - Still no hangover! I'm telling you girls, this is amazing. I probably have MAYBE 1 drink a month, so I can't believe how well I handled a weekend like this! FI and I got some WR stuff done and purchased all our booze for the reception.

All in all it was a great weekend and now I'm super excited that there's only 19 more days to go!!!

  • @laurenb09 I came home the other day from work and did the same thing. I had to get bloodwork done per my GYN and after the million vials they took, I had a headache all day. I got home, told BF I was going to lay down for 45 minutes. I didn't wakeup until almost 8pm. I needed that nap though, so I know how you felt on Friday! I didn't get Mexican and margs after though :(

@cocobellaf I'm glad things are working out okay. You've had a rough go the last couple of weeks but it seems like you're taking it in stride now. I've never heard of anyone having pizza breaks between tornados, I laughed out loud in my office (good thing I'm alone!). I know I need to wear sunscreen, I'm so fair skinned too I don't know what I was thinking yesterday lol. I totally bailed on it yesterday except for my face. I'm a sunscreen fanactic too, I have all SPF levels in my house in case someone forgets to bring some. When we go to Mexico I'm slathering on 50 spf every other hour. I promise I'll be good the rest of the summer :)

@mhollister89 I can't believe you didn't drink and craft. I'm ashamed of the both of you! I hope @lmhollister shows us some pictures of her new home!

@peekaboo2011 I want to see pictures of 1-4 please! Nothing like seeing sweaty peen on monkey bars!

@livleighton I'll never forget Hoagie's face! I hope the new owners will keep you updated on his progress with pictures! He really is the cutest puppy ever. Also, I would choose the beach or being outdoors over doing housework/laundry any day!

@allusive007 all of your parties this weekend sounded like so much fun! I can't believe your wedding is only 19 days away!

@rdr716 I've made the guac recipe so many times now I know it by heart. Next time we make it BF wants to chop up jalapenos and throw them in there, I'll let you know how that turns out. At least it's not like his other creations!

  • @buddysmom80- I know...we were pretty ashamed of ourselves on Friday too lol. We looked at each other as we were just about to leave and we were like crap...we didn't do our crafts lol. But! We will do them tonight and they will look cute! I'll try to sneak in some pics tonight while I'm there.

@mhollister89 You won't have to sneak in any pics cause I'll be taking some myself! Can't wait to show off the new place to you and Mom tonight.

Friday BF and I picked up my college BFF from the airport. We didn't get home until 1 am so we ended up just hanging out at the apartment drinking before bed. I made boozy fruit and gummy bears....and I don't think I'll be doing that ever again. Haha the vodka soaked raspberries were just way too intense for me.

Saturday we went to Helen and ate tasty German food. We also tubed down the Chattahoochee River and on our way out of town stopped at winery. I was pleasantly suprirsed because this is winery I've judged in the past for selling super sugary sweet wines but they definitely had some good stuff there and I think I'll go back in the future. We even got free wine glasses and they had a super adorable wine accessory shop! That night we stopped at our new house (not quite ours yet) so that my friend could see it and then visited my favorite coffee house for dinner and more drinks of course.

Sunday we went to the GA Aquarium. This aquarium totally kicks the asses of all other aquariums btw. You just can't beat a massive tank with four whale sharks and another massive tank with beluga whales. Another couple joined us so afterwards we all went out for lunch at Tin Lizzy's. A massive storm front came in as we got our bill so we ended up just staying for another hour and enjoyed another round of margaritas and chips while we waited out the rain and lightning. Afterwards we all went to our apartment and played a few rounds of Cards Against Humanity (and drank some more...) before it was time to take my friend to the airport. I definitely drank and ate WAY too much this weekend but it didn't show on the scale this morning.

@buddysmom80 We are closing on our new house this afternoon so I'll totally AW some pics later! :)

  • @buddiesmom, @livleighton, @cocobella

Thanks ladies! I'm getting crazy excited now. I can't believe how quickly that year of engagement went. How did that happen? I'm feeling a little bogged down in details now, but I'm gonna be there in no time. woo hoo!

Peek, sorry about TM. That sounds bad all around with the heat.

Saturday BFF got married. I got ready at home because I did my own hair and makeup. I went to the bride's parents' house for the tea ceremony, and it was hot and crowded. I was put in charge of making the pizzas for lunch after the ceremony, so a 400 degree oven plus a heavy brocade cheongsam made me sweaty. This was my first tea ceremony, and it was chaotic, partly because the groom was not Asian and therefore half the people didn't know what was going on.

The wedding was outdoors, and it thankfully cooled off a bit. Despite bug spray, I was bitten by Mosquitos during the ceremony, but I was trying not to move to not ruin any pictures. After pictures I found H and my friends and we wandered around the farm venue. We ran into the bride and photographer who said they'd been looking for me (I thought we were done with pics). I looked at my phone and no one had called me, typical of the poor communication throughout the process. Anyway, I had a great time with my high school friends. We made many trips to the photo booth. We were loud, and we danced. People went home a little earlier than expected, so it was just the BP and a few friends left at the end. Overall, it went well.

Sunday I woke up early feeling miserable. I took some Tylenol and went back to bed. I had dance rehearsal for an Indian dance, which is a lot of fun, but I still felt like crap afterward, so I went home and H went to his friend's BBQ without me. I think I didn't drink enough water on Sat, since a hangover from a single glass of champagne seems unlikely.
  • It worries me how much I have to concentrate to remember what I did this weekend!

Friday after work BF and I shared a bottle of champagne, then went to Chipotle for dinner and saw Star Trek 2, which I actually really liked!

Saturday we took a nice long walk around town, stopped for lunch, and then headed home for a much needed nap.  Afterwards we tried this cute little French restaurant for dinner and I had some really awesome mussels.  We rented Broken City with Mark Wahlberg after dinner, and it really was not very good at all.

Sunday we signed up for a Costco membership and spent a thrilling morning shopping for large amounts of food products.  BF was like a little kid in a candy store--it was adorable.  We spent the afternoon at a friend's barbecue and then came home in the early evening only to find that BF had somehow gotten sick.  He spent the rest of the night puking in between cat naps, but fortunately he woke up feeling better this morning!

@belle2188, how are you liking Costco so far? BF and I are considering the pros and cons of it. It seems like it would be more useful for a bigger family than just the two of us. Glad your BF is feeling better!

@allusive007, congrats on being so close to the big day (and on the lack of hangovers ;)!

@rdr716, what is The Killing? I've never heard of it, but the title sounds quite suspenseful.

The weekend. So, Friday I got up at 6:30 and was at school most of the day. Got home and got a call from work about coming in for four hours that evening. I decided to be helpful and go in, and ended up working until about 4 am on Saturday morning because someone else called out. Ugh. I love my job and really liked the vibe of night shift, but I wish I'd had a chance to prepare for that; it was kinda painful.

So I spent most of Saturday recuperating and, um, not studying. It was also our anniversary, but luckily BF was exhausted too, so we ordered pizza, snuggled, and watched his new favorite show, Longmire. It was the most understated anniversary we've ever had, and definitely the coziest and my favorite so far. I will never make a big deal about "celebrating" again.

Sunday I got my butt in gear and studied, and did a head-to-toe assessment on basically anyone that came to our house. School is moving fast so far but I am really loving it and feeling like it was a good choice. (Ask me on Friday after our first clinical and I may feel differently, though...Kinda nervous about that.)
  • @LivLeighton - I'm going to miss Hoagie too :(

OMG @allusive007! 19 days?! It'll be here in the blink of an eye. Your weekend/B-parties sound like so much fun!

@Amapola14 - It's a show on AMC. This is the 3rd season. The first two seasons were about the same murder and sometimes the show was a little boring/disappointing during the second season. This season is about something new, though, and I really enjoyed the premier last night.

  • Sounds like a good one, RDR. I may have to check it out while waiting for The Walking Dead to come back.
  • @Amapola14 - Ahh The Walking Dead. I just saw a commercial for it and saw the word "October" at the bottom and now I'm disappointed. That's so far away!

  • @rdr716, ugh, I know. But honestly, that show stresses me out with all the crazy-stupid decisions some of the characters make. Maybe it will be different now that certain folks have taken a hike. In any case, I just need to know what happens and I need to know ASAP!
  • @allusive007 Your weekend sounds amazing!

Friday- FI and I spent cleaning out my parent's garage and building shelves for their garage. An early father's day gift for my dad.

Saturday- I'd planned to have a lazy day but my friend called me early in the morning offering to buy me coffee. So I spent the whole day out with friends. Then when I came home FI wanted to go out on the town, so it was a late, wonderful, night.

Sunday- Went to church, then went shopping with my best friend. She found her bm shoes and I found my wedding shoes. After that FI and I watched Numb3rs till I fell asleep.

Over all a wonderful, restless, weekend. :)

  • @Amapola14 Costco is definitely more useful for families, but I still think it's worth it.  BF eats A LOT so for us it makes sense to buy huge boxes of cereal, double cartons of eggs, huge boxes of granola bars.  Even if he didn't, though, there are a lot of things that don't go bad or that you can freeze and have for a while.  It's great for stocking up on paper goods like toilet paper and paper towels, and for stocking your freezer for last minute meals and emergencies.
    Wedding Countdown Ticker
  • Friday we had friends help us move heavy fish tanks from FI's storage unit to our home. No plans to put fish in them though. We just hung out, talked a lot about wedding stuff. After the kui thread the other night I went onto the website to brush up on my french.  I'm loving it!
Saturday we went to church, ran a lot of errands, and did some cleaning.  We went out for frozen yougurt and it didn't upset my stomach too bad.  We also got some quotes for some interior painting, it's way too expensive so we'll just paint it ourselves. Oh well.

Sunday we did more work outside and FI did more stuff to make our patio beautiful.  Slowly things are coming together. I had rehearsal too last night. It was tiring.  We open this Friday, I'm so excited. I also decided this weekend I'm caving and this weekend I'm going to get a smart phone....

    Anniversary

  • @belle2188, thanks! I totally didn't even think about paper stuff and frozen foods since the only thing I buy in bulk is chocolate. ;-) I think BF will want to compare the unit prices to our usual stores before committing to a membership, but it sounds like it would be very convenient!
  • @rdr716 Aww poor Lucy ... Is she always afraid of thunderstorms?
@buddysmom80 Your Saturday sounded so fun! I'm super jealous of your strawberry daquiris.
@laurenb09 Omg are you excited for the new season? It starts on the 12th I think, I can't wait.
@allusive007 A couples bachelorette? That sounds pretty awesome. I didn't do a bachelorette but I would have loved to do a couples thing. So fun ... And your super close to your wedding day! Do you have everything done?
@peekaboo2011 Sorry about your weekend :(

On Friday, H and I had lunch at this awesome Burger Grill where everything is organic and natural. It was so yummy. You get to pick whether you want an inside out burger (ingredients inside the meat instead of on top), grass fed beef, salmon, shrimp, tilapia, etc., on a bun, lettuce or brown rice and with whatever extras you want.  YUM :) After that we went to pick up a bowl that we painted for my mom at Earth, Paint and Fire for her birthday. It came out so good. Later we went to the park and practiced Taekwondo forms in an open field and it was boiling hot but still relaxing and fun.

Saturday, H and I washed our cars on the driveway together. It took like 4 hours! He loves to do this and see how clean his Mustang looks afterwards. It's so cute. Afterwards we worked out outside with kettlebells and a car tire. Later we made dinner which was ground turkey marinated with a special sauce over brown rice and zucchini/squash. I'm so proud of us, it was delicious. After dinner, we watched I Love Lucy with mom and then went to sleep.

Sunday was my mom's 50th birthday. During the day, I made Chocolate Peanut butter brownies because they are my mom's favorite. For dinner we went to a Thai restaurant and ordered family style. I LOVE Pad Thai. Anyone else? After dinner we went home, opened gifts, sang my mom Happy Birthday and ate chocolate cake and my brownies. At night, H and I watched Jane Eyre and passed out.

My weekend was fun. Had my bachelorette party on Saturday and it was fun. We went mini golfing and made up silly ways we had to hit the ball, including a battle royal to keep everyone else's ball from the hole. Then we went to a bar and strangers bought me drinks. And an older cowboy man dragged me out on the dance floor and proceeded to try to convince me to leave FI for him :P Then we went to Denny's and I ate a bunch of cheese sticks.

Sunday I hung out with my bestie, nursing a combination of an alcohol hangover and a heat hangover, because it was over 100F the day of my party and I do NOT handle heat well. So we basically laid in bed all day and napped.

And then today before heading home I got my lip and eyebrow waxed. That was loads of fun :P aaaand I realized I still haven't done my day-of timeline for the wedding and we're less than four days out. I'm a terrible bride >_< and yet, I'm knotting instead of working on that :P

  • @laurenb09 Wait until you finish the first season, you're going to be addicted! I promise. Are you going to watch the new season or are you going to wait until you catch up?

@buddysmom80 That sounds like my kind of daiquiri. Would you mind sharing the recipe? :) Or is it a secret? You should go get some Thai food, it's so good! But you have to watch out for the spice. Just because it says pineapple doesn't mean it's sweet.

  • @mymissingpuzzlepiece of course I'll share the recipe!

    Ingredients:

1 can of limeade (frozen concentrate) not defrosted, but not frozen

    1-2 bananas

    bacardi rum

fresh strawberries (hulled, stems off, etc)

    Directions:

Put limeade in blender, using the can as a measuring cup, fill with rum and put in blender. Add bananas, top off with strawberries. Run blender until desired consistency. If you find that the daiquiri is too tart either from the limeade or strawberries you can either add more bananas or add more rum. Serve over ice.

Also you could probably use fresh lime juice and sugar maybe. I don't know I'll have to try that one time.
