Fur Babies!

I realize that we ALL love looking at pics of the fur babies!

There's also not a dedicated thread to do an intro of our fur children!

So, here it is!

Introduce us to your fur babies!!  Tell us all about them!  How old, where did you find them (or how they found you!), anything at all!  Post pictures!  Funny stories or sad stories!  Heck, share past fur babies if you want too (because I'm selfish and I love to post about my Rainbow Bridge babies too).

Because she was my favoritest dog evar!

This is my Rainbow Bridge dalmation, Dottie.  I rescued her when she was 7 years old from a local animal group who saved her from our local "kill" shelter in Austin.  She was dog aggressive, and a 'senior', which I think hurt her chances of finding a home in a shelter.  I saw her, purely on accident, at an adoption day at a local Petsmart, and fell head over heels.  I waited a week to really think about it  before I submitted adoption papers.  She was such a cool dog.  She did "High Five" (she never could figure out "shake"), "Go night-night" (go to your doggie bed), she'd balance a treat on her nose and either drop her head when you told her "Go ahead", or she'd 'swipe' it off with her paw and knock it off and get it.  She also gave hugs (she'd push her head between your legs for a hug), Dalmation 'smiled' and did the usual "Sit/Down/Stay/Roll Over".  In my dad's words, she wasn't a "Great" dog (lots of behavioral issues that I never knew the root cause of), but she was a hell of a "Good" dog and very easy to love.  She was also SUPER farty.

    Her doing "High Five"

After letting her go, I got Pancho Villa, my dachshund.  He's now 5.  I have a friend who bred Doxies who, knowing the pain I'd gone through letting her go, said she'd give me pick of her next litter for a dog.  My ex and I both agreed we liked Doxies, so we ended up with two (he kept one and I got Pancho on our breakup.  Though I fought for both.  Ugh).
Pancho is a tittybaby.  Seriously.  Thunderstorms terrify him, so he whines until he can get into bed with me (the ONLY time FI allows him in the bedroom at night, and into bed).
He's a one time 'racing wienie' who was an epic failure at it.
He knows sit, down, shake (if you give him your right hand, he offers the mirror paw), roll over (only one direction though), and occasionally he knows 'speak' and 'bark'.  He also will KILL himself if you allow it, chasing after a ball.  He's lucky he's cute.
Him as a pup when I first brought him home:

    My cats:
Shane (Shane O'Kitty, ShaneRPuss, ShaneShaneBoGatorade, Bat Cat; my son at a young age called him LOTS of odd things!).  He's about 10 now, and he's been with me through thick and thin.

Snickerdoodles (Doodler, Doodles or Stinky).  Stray cat I found outside of work at my old place of employment.  It's a busy location, and as it was an armored truck company, I was worried about him getting run over.  So, I took him home.  He's probably about 2 to 2 and a half.  Sweetest cat ever.

Shadow (Shadowdog, Dookers, Sha-dookie).  Some kind of lab-mix thing my FI rescued for his son after his divorce.  He's dumb as a bag of rocks, but sweet natured, and also obsessed with playing ball.

Then there's the big fur babies.

Socks (El Sidar) is a 13 year old Arabian.  Big goofball.  He was bought for me as a 'project' horse that I was going to 'flip and sell'.  But, he has such a big personality that I just couldn't let him go.  He and I just trail ride, and he's a pretty steady boy for beginners.  He loves kids and tolerates a LOT of the stupid shit I do to him and around him.  Really and truly a 'saint' of a horse.  TECHNICALLY he's my son's horse (though my name's on his paperwork).  My son loves him dearly, though he doesn't ride much.

My son (when he was about 13) on Socks:

Strider (MGAs Fuerte del Energia).  My 7 year old Paso Fino.  I raised him from a baby.  Bought him when he was about a week old from an online ad.  Waited until he was 4 months old to bring him home.  We've had our ups and downs, but he's such a character that I can't imagine parting with him either.  He and I trail ride; I'd like to do endurance on him at some point I think (long distance rides; usually 25+ miles).

    Him as a baby:

PS-I promise, I am NOT an animal hoarder.
Well, not much of one!  :)

Also not pictured; FI's cat Jake, and my son's leopard gecko Lazarro.
  • My furbabies are the best ever (hahaha) and they're little divas. So... here's a couple of pictures! Lucy is the calico - (mostly white). She weighs about 6 lbs, and has always been this tiny. I brought her home from a shelter when she was about 9 months old - that was in August 2009. Natalie (the tabby) is the queen, and she knows it. She weighs about 9 lbs. She found me when she was about 4 months old, back in May 2008 (the neighbor found her in a tree, took her to my mom's house because they could have a kitten due to their dogs. I came home from school a week later and the darling kitten adopted me).

Okay, so I love them both, but there's something about that first picture you posted of Natalie that just made me go "AWWWW!!  WANT!!!"  :)

@shaylagirl sorry, but she's mine! haha. She is a little stinker, though.... rotten through and through. She definitely has me wrapped around her paw! Here's some more pictures.

This is Zeus. He's my mom's 1st pomeranian, aka my sister's "replacement" when she graduated high school.

    He's a weird dog.
This is Cleopatra, my "replacement" when I graduated from high school.

These were all taken 2 summers ago at the WI house. Mom tried to give them hair cuts.
This is Mikey (also my parents'). He's not the brightest cat ever... one time he tried to jump on top of the fridge from the kitchen island, and he kind of missed & went straight into the fridge instead... He was okay, though!
    image
This is Toto, who's now hanging out at the Rainbow Bridge with several other cats and dogs we have had over the years. She was my baby.

    And Toto and Lucy!

And because all the cats and dogs were playing outside (supervised...) here's a picture of Miss Natalie and her fluffy-self rolling around on the concrete. I guess it felt good?

ETA: I forgot this cute picture of Lucy!

this is travis and max.  I had a cat named oreo before I got max.  A few months after oreo passed away my fiance surprised me by taking to the animal shelter on our anniversary to pick out a new cat.  Max jumped out at me right away but another woman was taking him into a room to play with him.  Luckily she put him back and I got him!  As for Travis (my sleepy troublemaker).  My fiances parents were foster parents for kitties at the shelter.  Now we saw a ton of kitties over the months.   We knew max needed a playmate.  When we were over his parents house I mentioned I loved Travis.  He was so playful!  I came home one day from work.  My fiance told me to look in our small linen closet.  I opened it and out popped tiny travis.  I love these guys so much!  They always keep me entertained.

  • @schellzinator I can't believe how much she has grown!!!! Your "Little Monster" Is ADORABLE.

Haha - Zeus & Cleo are "my parents'" dogs, but really, no. They're my mom's. She says she didn't get them to replace us, but come on. We brought home Zeus right before my sister started her senior year of high school. Cleopatra was brought home before I started my senior year. They're totally our replacements. (Not to mention that my sister dyes her hair blonde and I've been dying my hair red..... lol!)

  • alrighttttt I must preface with my kitties are like my children... so prepare for a photo overload :)

Enkii, which stands for the sumerian god of mischief. is the grey, stripy tabby. He is just over a year old and we adopted him from a local rescue when he was still young enough to have blue eyes. This critter was a TERROR! I have never had cats before him, FI had... but he ate through things (still does on occasion) just like a dog. he tore up EVERYTHING in sight.... talk about a fun habit to break :) This young man is sure a talker. If he has an opinion on something you better bet you shall hear about it.

Khali, which stands for the hindu goddess of time and change. She is the white and black scrawny one :) Khali is just at a year old. we got her a couple months after Enkii to give him a playmate... and maybe a female to put him in his place haha. It worked!!! and this one is such a lover. She cuddles and always wants to be around and follow everyone around the house chatting with them.

Side note: they both enjoy "helping" us with our tasks, weather its cleaning, homework, video games, or my art projects they always want to put there nose (or whole body) in it :)
