Need your help to ID this dress!!!

The bridal shop I've been trying on this dress at won't tell me the designer brand. Technically I wasn't even supposed to take this photo. I just want to find the dress in another shop in it's "Diamond White" color. The store I tried it on at only has the "Spun Gold" color. Any help you can provide would be great!! Thanks!!

  • Sometimes the best way to narrow these things down in my experience is to tell us what bridal shop you went to (or provide us with a link) and most of the time the bridal store lists what designers they carry. If we can narrow down the designers we can then go through those website and try to figure out by dress style what this one is (it looks taffeta and we can also narrow down by sweetheart neckline)

  • Go back to the store and see if you can try on the dress, try to catch a glimpse of the brand and that will help A LOT.
  • I'm confused. Did it not have tags or a label on it?  All the dresses I tried on had tags on them with that information.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • If theres no label and the shop wouldnt tell you the designer id be rather suspicious of that shop.

Definitely do not buy from that shop. Although many shops do it, to discourage your from shopping around at other stores, it is technically illegal. I went to one shop that did this, and said they did it because they didn't want the bride to be biased towards one designer or another. BS! I did not go back there.

I'm pretty sure it's only illegal if they remove the tag that shows it's country of manufacturing and fabric type/content.  If they leave that tag on, but remove the designer tag, they aren't doing anything wrong.

Many shops do this, because they don't want you using their salon as a fitting room, and then going to buy it cheaper online somewhere.  Your best bet is to scour their website to see what designers they offer, and then cruise the website of those designers.

I'm assuming you went to Minerva's in Orlando based off of what you have the picture titled as.

It has a lot of traits of Sophia Tolli gowns and I see on their website that they carry Sophias. But considering that store also has an Outlet...it could be from so many seasons ago

If the dress is a corset back, I believe it's the Sophia Tolli Alexandra style #Y1810
  • @itzMS: Yes, I went to Minerva's in Orlando! And it does have a corset back - It looks like that might be the one - thank you so much for the help!!
@AddieL73 & @SouthernBelleInCali: The store takes the designer tags off the dress & puts their own store's label in it. Supposedly it's to "discourage people from price shopping other stores" and to prevent people from getting a knock-off made. This is why I didn't know who the designer was.
  • Great job itzMS!!!! I think she hit the nail on the head with the Sophia Tolli Alexandra :)

  • Isnt it illigal to remove the designer tags?

    See my comment above.  @lookame3639

I'm 99% sure, that as long as they leave the fabric content and the country of origin, they don't have to leave the name of the designer on the tag.
