Changed Ceremony Location - So Excited!

So after showing the man VG's ceremony video (my man shaves his head too), he insisted that we move the ceremony indoors because he does not want to sweat while saying his vows (we were at Valley of the Falls).  I contacted my coordinator at Mandalay Bay to discuss moving to The Mix and she mentioned that they just began a few days ago offering ceremonies in the Foundation Room at HOB again.  I requested to move it over there and have been waiting for days to hear that it was available and I just received confirmation that it is ours!  So excited!  We like unique places because we are not a conventional couple so a chapel was just not our thing which is why I went for VOF.  Super excited, had to share!  Pictures below.

  • Oh wow, that looks so cool. What is the pricing like on that location? You can PM me or email me if you want.

  • I just recently saw it on the website and absolutely loved it! Congrats! Just out of curiousity - who is your coordinartor and did they charge you for moving your location? The contract says deposit is "non-transferrable" and I was curious how strict they really were that (I was thinking of requesting to move my date from a Sat to a weekday but not if I have to pay!).

  • HOB? details woot woot congrats
  • The pricing for the location is $2000 which includes extra photography, extra coordinator day of and chairs and decor. There is no charge for making the change. My coordinator is Erica and has been fabulous! And HOB stands for House of Blues! I haven't seen pics on line. I will go look now.

  • cool thanks for the info :)
  • It's stunning but there is one detail that annoys me... Why isn't the altar and the aisle centered in the room? The chandelier shouldn't be above the left rows but centered above the aisle and the altar should be centered in the wall...

Details like these bug me. I mean, they charge $2000 for this and yet, logical design details are not respected. Maybe they wanted the altar to be closer to the windows, which I understand. But unfortunately, to my eyes, something's wrong when I look at this chapel.

Don't get me wrong, it's STUNNING besides this detail. And you know, I'm getting married at Excalibur, so who the hell am I to say anything against this. But I just wanted to share a thought.

The most important thing is that you will look fabulous in this room!

  • I noticed that too! Lol. I don't think any location is absolutely perfect. It's just one of those things that I can overlook. I was curious why it was like that too.

The reason the chandelier is off center is because it is not a chapel, but rather a ceremony set up in the Foundation Room dining room. So it was designed as a restaurant, and not for wedding ceremonies. However, It is a beautiful space (we loved it when we toured it, but our guest list got too big).   Also, we were told you could set the chairs and room up however you liked. They told us that we could do the ceremony inside, then have a cocktail hour outside on that patio, and then move the reception back inside for dinner. But we were told that if you had your ceremony there, you had to have your reception there (there was a food and bev. minimum to reserve the space.)

It's interesting that they will now let you transfer a deposit from the MB chapel or VOF to HOB. When we visited in 2012, they were completely separate (we toured them separately and had a Live Nation rep giving us the tour of HOB). When we toured HOB, they did not require you to use MB's florist and you could bring in outside vendors. Has that changed?

  • Thanks for the background. I will have to check about outside vendors. You've been up there VG? Glad you think that we will like it. Never been to that room. I wish I had an idea of what the rest of the room looks like because I have no idea about this patio that you guys are talking about. So excited though.

  • Meant to add SD210, we are not having our reception there at MB so I guess that has changed. I know that it took a few days for my coordinator to hear back from the rep that handled the space so it is still separate to a point.

Yep been there several times for the night club; got access to the inside rooms and the patio; it's basically Mix Lounge with a different vibe, so same view, just different decor; it's great.
