Chicken or Fish menu confusion!?

My venue is asking that I put stickers or something to indicate Chicken or Fish for each of my guests on their place cards. As the rsvp are coming in I'm finding it really hard to figure this out. Example Invitation send to" Doe family" rsvp reads 2 chicken 4 fish.... How do I know what goes to who... Any suggestions? Aren't the servers just going to ask chicken, fish and veggie?

There have been a few rsvps that responsed exactually what I need... Example Chris for Fish and Lisa for Chicken, but what about the rest??? Feel like i'm forced to guess and if they have to switch plates they can, but I'm paying for thm to serve correct plates!

Do what your venue asks and put the stickers on the placecards. If you do not want to call the guests and ask who specifically would like each item, then guess and they can switch plates.

It happens all the time, and it's not a big deal.

Thanks that's what I thought, but wanted to bounch it off somebody!
  • I included instructions on the RSVP card to initial menu choices, but I expect the same thing to happen to me at least a few times. I'll probably follow up with the guests by calling/emailing them. If they don't get back to me, I'll guess and they can switch their plates - I'll just have to seat the kids with their parents.
  • I stamped each persons place card with an initial for each meal. B for beef, C for chicken, etc.

I have 75 rsvps, a little to time consuming with 2 jobs.

  • I understand you are busy. I think this is a situation where you can communicate with many of the guests via e-mail, Facebook (privately), or text. I also think it is very important that you find out ahead of time (or at least attempt to). Due to the different cooking times and space on the tray, the waiters might come out with one type of dish, then go back in the kitchen to get the next one. People might have a quick moment of frustration when they see a steak in front of them instead of their vegetarian entree.
