What is the point of the new points system?

So people get points for posting/starting posts, I get that. What do the points do for you/whats the point? We can tell who posts a lot just by reading the posts. Maybe I am missing something...

    The points turn into badges. The counter in the past would make the medal change color based on how many posts you had. I was in silver or bronze. Cannot remember. Eventually you topped out at gold, I don't know if I would ever want to be that high.

    Seriously. Some of the knot-all-day-and-night regulars have thousands of points already.

    I had over 3000 before they changed everything. I only knot during the day though. I have other crap I need to get done at night!

    Honestly, bring back where people are from.

    Eff the rest.  I can't track all this garbage.

    It'd also be nice if a "wedding date" was included with a location under a user name.

    Me too! I can totally be on TK all day long. It's not like I have to get work done.... LOL. ;)
