Best RSVP Response Ever - adding kids and babysitter

We decided not to invite children to our wedding - we've had mixed reviews, but no serious drama. I've felt really awesome about the no drama from what I've been reading on here of guests throwing fits, indigo children, threats via Facebook, etc. We sent out our invitations a couple weeks ago and everyone seems to "get it" (i.e. they're only putting their names and "2" or "1" for the number attending.

RSVPs have been coming in and yesterday I got the best one ever from my cousin and his wife who have 4 kids:

"Number attending __2__ (+4 kids +1 babysitter... can't wait!!)"

I was waving it around and all, "Oh no they did not!!! FI, look at this! I knew SOMEONE was going to do this! Ugh, people are so bold." Then I noticed the small arrow at the bottom. I flipped the card over and it said, "Just kidding! Gotcha! Can't wait for the wedding and some adult time. See you soon!"

PUNKED!! It was great and just wanted to share. :)

  • Hahaha I was getting angry FOR you! Your cousin seems fun, but let's hope the gags they pull stop there!
  • That is hilarious. Your cousin sounds great. I hope one of my guests does this as I will need some laughs when my cousin no doubt RSVPs for her three daughters, their SOs and her grandchild too. Oh and another cousin has already been on us about inviting her six ex-stepchildren.

Always refreshing to see guests who respect the names written on the envelope!

My husband's brother and sister-in-law actually did this. Not even joking.

The invite was sent to only them. They RSVP'ed for 5.

DH called his brother to inquire...and they said it was them, their two kids, and a babysitter.

  • haha

I trump all the Kitties with cuteness!!! Bhahahahaha!!!

  • That's hysterical!
  • Awesome! I love when people have a sense of humor about it!
  • Lol! Love it! I'm one of those with a sense of humor, I'm soooo glad they were kidding.
  • haha I had a cousin who is married into the family that put "2 plus 67 of my closest friends". I wrote on her facebook wall how funny she was. And then a week ago she saw my mom, and reminded her to make room for her 67 friends, so even after 2 months when her RSVP was sent in, we are still making jokes about it! I also had a close college friend do the same thing, they are the jokesters aren't they! :)
  • Oh, that's hiLARious! Your family has a great sense of humour -- lucky you! I haven't sent out invites yet, but only four couples have young (under age 13) kids. All of them, to a one, got the STDate and said, "OH, thank you, an adult-only night!" (Two of them are currently fighting over a babysitter, though. Apparently they usually use the same person and they both asked her at the same time).
