Hello, thrilled to be here and ecstatic to be getting married!

What SO Does:  EMT/Paramedic/Tech
State of Relationship:  Engaged!
How Long You've Been Together:  Met in Sep 2012; He moved states to live with me in November 2012; Proposed in May 2013
How You Met:  His best friend, a mutual friend of ours, introduced us
Wedding Date (if you're engaged/married):  October 26, 2013
Real Babies:  Not yet!
Fur Babies:  I've had my cat for 7 years, and we just got a puppy a month ago
Loves:  Good wine, fine cheeses, conversations about spirituality, spontaneous road trips, gardening, travel, good girlfriends... and really bad reality tv.
Hates:  Bad manners, ice cream, and tolerance for the sake of political correctness
Pet Peeves:  When people won't let go of a problem or issue, and keep re-hashing rather than finding a solution or moving on
Hobbies/Activities:  Trying new hobbies (does that count?), gardening, reading, planning trips, homestead planning and self-sufficiency
Favorite Thing About Your SO:  He is a real man's man, strong and hard-working, and has the most amazing sense of purpose and dignity
Least Favorite Thing About Your SO:  He sometimes works night shifts
Describe Your Personality:  I wrote a few things and then erased them.  It's difficult to describe your own personality.  Maybe the answers to other questions and future posts will round that out. 
Snark Level (1 [low snark] - 10 [high snark]):  Varies depending on circumstance.  Typically low snark, with rare occasional bursts of high leveled snarkiness.
I've Been On TK Since:  The week I got engaged!  End of May 2013
How You Came to Be On TK:  I'd run across TK in random online searches before, and dove in once getting engaged
How I like my potatoes:  Well-whipped with butter and garlic salt.
Favorite book/author:  Too many in too many different genres to narrow it down; I enjoy a lot of non-fiction and philosophy as well as dramatic fiction and supernatural fiction.  I also love period pieces and historical fiction.  I was a big fan of Harry Potter.  And now I've purchased every bridal magazine sold on shelves in Atlanta. 
Tell Us Something Interesting About Yourself:  I went to high school in Switzerland.

    Thanks!  Going wonderfully, really.  We are now almost two weeks into planning.  The initial four or five days was maddening, haha, pretty dang stressful, no joke.  But now we have our venue set, our officiant booked, tenting and all that jazz rented for the reception, a live band booked, catering booked, wedding party set, and several families members currently assigned and working with vendors for decorations and additional details.  I have my wedding dress!  Well, I have my wedding dress ordered, that is.  We have some logistics planned, but still working on a lot of details.  We have some things planned, a lot of other things works in progress.  But hey, not bad for two weeks, right?  I'm sure a lot of people would be shocked we're having the wedding so soon, but nah, we got this.

    Wow!  You've just made my head spin!!!  LOL  That's awesome that you have accomplished so much in a few short weeks.

    @rustytammy Haha, well Happy Engagement to you too!  Yay for the 26th of October!

    Yep, I read so much wedding-related info immediately after he proposed that I was overwhelmed with how much I needed to do... but went right into work mode!  I coordinate medical research trials, and turns out coordinating a wedding fits the way I'm used to working pretty well.  It's funny though, we've got some of the big things done, but every time I check one thing off it seems like two more to-dos are added to the list!

    You will find yourself adding and adding and adding.  LOL  The thing I have to keep reminding myself of is to find something, i.e. a center piece, and stick with it.  I've vacillated back and forth on so many things that my FI and one friend is tired of my new ideas.  So when we find one we both like I stick with it!

    @rustytammy I can definitely see how the list expands exponentially; it makes me glad I don't have more than a handful of months to plan!  I lucked out too, one of our mutual friends got engaged last week and I'm excited I'll have someone to speak wedding with that won't tire of me! haha

    Welcome! Sounds like you got a lot done, that is awesome! I wish I had that kind of motivation all the time, I seem to have like a week or two where I do a ton, and then spend a month or so doing nothing...lol. Though I suppose as things get closer and things need to get done, I will definitely be more on top of things!

    I also work in the pharma industry, it wasn't my background (I'm a librarian by training) but I've really enjoyed learning about how things work! Makes me wish I had majored in something medical so I could eventually be a study manager or something :)
