small, cheap ceremony and reception

Me and my fiance are looking for a small cheap wedding in the Appleton area. we would like to have it at rustic area, but all the barns are out of our price range. does anybody have any ideas where we could have a very small ceremony with a bigger reception for cheap? right now we are thinking the ceremony will only be about 25 people, with about 250 for the Reception. we are also thinking about doing orderves instead of a dinner for everybody to save on money. any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You always must serve a full meal if your reception crosses a mealtime. If you want to do only drinks and appetizers, have an evening ceremony starting at 7:30. You can save money by having a morning ceremony with a brunch/lunch reception. I totally appreciate that you want a "theme" and such. Trust me, hosting your guests properly and you being a gracious hostess will be remembered far longer than your "theme" or "rustic" venue. Google "rustic wedding decorations" and you will find thousands of ideas to jazz up any ol banquet hall.
  • How about a county or city park that has a building you can decorate?

  • We are having our wedding and ceremony at Lake Winneconne Park, it has a gazebo for a ceremony and a renovated barn for the reception (or ceremony if weather is bad) and it only cost $170-something for the rental..... you bring all your own food and drinks but they provide the tables, chairs and a fridge..... it is really gorgeous.....
  • if you find that rustic place, mason jars are cheap and easy way to decorate!  there are so many possibilities to decorate with them, you can google or I would recommend pinterest :)
