Intro and a Food Question

Hi ladies! I'm not really new to the boards, but have mostly creeped in the background until now and wanted to introduce myself. I will put the intro questions below this post.

We are having our menu tasting next Sunday and I am trying to decide what to select to try. FI really wants filet mignon so I think that will be 1 of our 2 options, since he hasn't asked for much throughout the planning process. For the 2nd option, I was thinking crab cakes- I am a huge fan, and it is something "different" (for weddings at least). There would also be a vegetarian option (haven't decided on this either, maybe pasta primavera?). I don't think there are any vegans coming, but I would accommodate them on a case by case basis if any cropped up. There will also be various apps, a salad course, and dessert.

So my question is, would any of you go hungry at my wedding? Obviously I can't have everyone's favorite food, but if a lot of people here would not be happy with any of the entree selections above then I will reconsider. TIA!

Tell Us Something Interesting About Yourself: My wedding dress was designed by Austin Scarlett (Project Runway, Season 1- any fans?!). I got to meet him and am having my dress custom made in a different color than what I tried on, which I am nervous about. (I tried it on in lavender, having it made in blush.) Can't wait for it to come in!
  • Are you having a duo plate or people choose?

If people choose I think 80% will go with beef! (that's what i'm told anyway)

I am having beef and salmon (plus veggie or kids meal), but our appetizers have lots of chicken. I think you will be fine!

Also, I am a HUGE Harry Potter nerd! (dressed up for book releases and everything - I am not ashamed either) :-)

  • HP for the WIN!  :)

Although, don't like beer?  You made my heart cry.  ;)

Beef is almost always a win, but, as a person who just flat doesn't like seafood of pretty much any kind, I'd decline crab cakes.  But, since you've got beef, I'd be happily devouring that!!  OMNOMNOM!!!
  • Welcome!

I'd be fine ordering, but as mentioned above, you might want to include a chicken option. Then everything is really covered. Sounds yummy!

  • I would go with the beef but that is just because I'm allergic to fish and shellfish.  Otherwise it sounds amazing!!!

  • Hello accountant with a personality - we exist!

I think a deviation from standard meals at wedding can be a welcomed change.  People DO get weird about seafood (or are allergic).  If you are offering a vegetarian option and a case by case alternate for vegan/allergies then you've covered all the bases you need to. I love the seafood option and even more that is a crab cake and not a random piece of something called "white fish".

Welcome.  Don't forget to share pics of your dress when it arrives.
    S'mores. Just S'mores please.
