Rumor has it David's Bridal dropped photo and video???

A friend of mine said David's Bridal is no longer offering photo and video. Does anyone know if  the chain in financial trouble or did photo or video just not work out for them? Been looking at gowns there and want to be sure they are still going to be in business.Tempted to ask at the store but employees always seem to be the last to know...

There was a post on here about some legal issues with DB photo and video.  But honestly why would you trust your wedding photos/video to a place that sells dresses?

  • Yes they definitely closed there photo/video department.  I booked them fro my wedding and got a call saying that they are going to focus on their apparel.  The sent me a check back for all the money I gave them and a list of other photographers that are available in your area.  The last wedding they are doing is oct 14, 2013.
I deal with brides all the time because I work in a jewelry store.  Thats where I got the suggestion to use Davids Bridal.  A few of my customers used them and loved it.

  • I'm told they used low-end photographer; the kind you would find n Craigs List.  Dont know if they ran into legal trouble or it was quality isses or what.  But as already said, why would you trust your photography to a company that sells dresses for a living?
  • I know nothing about this, and was barely aware of the fact that the did photography and videography.

However, just because one portion of the business is closing doesn't meant it affects their dress production. They would need to find local resources for each part of the country, which again, wouldn't affect their ability to create dresses.

I think you should be safe for buying a dress there (and again, I don't know much about this and didn't buy my dress there.)

  • Yeah, if you mean "The Pros", they have a very poor reputation.

  • who did you book with @marygrace?
  • I hate to change the topic but we were looking at the pros for video and DJ what is wrong with them?

Do a board search and you'll find horror stories. Problem is they are jacks of all trades and masters of none.

My student teacher used them. Their wedding video has no sound. They tried to charge them $1500 to "fix it". Their photos were so bad they did a reshoot a few month later just to have decent pics for the wall. Save yourself the heartache.

  • @hobokenbride2012 thank you. I wondering how a company can do everything and do it well... I think I will just save myself the trouble and move on.

    It's a smart decision.

  • I had a couple of friends who used "the Pros" and were very happy. I think with any big company, you are going to hear more complaints just because of the volume they do. Just looked at their rating on the BBB. The Pros had 42 complaints in 3 years. Found great reviews on wedding wire about Kenneth Stillman. Then looked at his BBB rating. Kenneth Stillman Video had 43 complaints. The Pros is huge. 42 is a super small percentage. Kenneth Stillman is a one person operation. 43 complaints is a big deal. Probably a third or so of his customers. He has even been taken to court by the state of PA. http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2012/11/20/3-on-your-side-update-pa-attorney-general-sues-wedding-videographer/  Small company doesn't always mean better. We have met with some photographers and videographers. Still not sure who we are going with. Haven't felt a strong connection to any so far. I am super sentimental. Guess I am looking for a fellow sap lol. And I cannot stand a strong sales pitch. I feel like I am being threatened by some. "You have to sign today or we cannot guarantee our prices or availability and you will get stuck hiring a sh@tty company if you wait until tomorrow" kind of thing really turns me off.
  • I have booked with the pros as well. I looked up a lot of reviews for them and I have spoken to brides that have used them. I have found that online its a mixed bag of reviews but slightly more good than bad. The people that I have spoken to in person have said nothing but great things. FI and I debated about it greatly because I told him about what everyone on here said about them. We decided to go for it.
I am not particularly fond of how I look in pictures so chances are I am not going to like them anyway.
