Another Friday!

Good morning lovely ladies! What's on the agenda for the weekend?

Tonight after work I'll get a quick workout in and then plop my butt on the couch. It's raining all day and we're getting the remnants of TS Andrea later so being lazy with H and the kids sounds perfect to me.

Tomorrow H and I are going to my brother and SIL's in Philly so we can meet our new nephew! He was born while we were on our honeymoon so we haven't gotten to see him yet. I'm so excited!

Sunday is our 6 year (dating) anniversary! We're not planning to "celebrate" but maybe just acknowledge it somehow. There's a seafood festival down the shore and a BBQ festival in NYC that we're thinking of checking one of those out.

Re: Another Friday!

  • Aw congrats on the new nephew!

Tonight I'm going home to finish decorating my mini flower pots and I need to buy a bunch of groceries for my brunch tomorrow. My sis and I are making a ton of food so we might start cooking tonight as well. We also need to go buy some flowers from Costco so tonight will be busy.

Saturday I might fit a run in during the morning hours and then head over to mom's to start making last minute food and drinks for the brunch. My sister and I are hosting a brunch for the bridal party since there are 6 of them and half of them don't know each other so this will be a chance for all of us to get together and the girls can mingle and eat yummy food. The men will be playing golf all day so I probably won't see FI until that night.

Sunday is church and afterwards I need to change my car battery (UGH!) and I'll actually be going back to church that evening to volunteer at their high school summer service.
  • rdr, how fun to meet your nephew! I hope you don't get too much rain from TS Andrea.

Tonight we're going to kick back and relax. It's been a very long, draining week for both of us at work and we need it.

Tomorrow I have a knitting class! I'm going to be learning Fair Isle and a couple of other techniques, so I'm really excited about it. We'll also be stopping by my parents' place for lunch, which is awesome because we're guaranteed a good meal this weekend. I'm a lousy cook, and he claims that he was once attacked by spaghetti as he was boiling it in a pot. Thank deities for the on-campus meal plans or we'd both starve.

Sunday BF has gaming in the evening. We might watch the Sprint Cup race earlier in the day, depending on how we're feeling. I'm definitely doing laundry in the morning, though, and I might do some Saturday depending on what time I get back from my class.
  • @rdr716 have fun with your new nephew! I vote on the seafood festival over the BBQ (if there is a vote lol)

@mhollister89 the pots that you're working from, these were from last weekend's drinking and crafting? You sound like me when I craft. I started a birdbath planter two weeks ago that's now sitting in my garage (though I may work on it Sunday)

@keptinstiches I might take a knitting class this winter. I tried learning online and learned the basics, but I get stuck on something I'm screwed.

Tonight since the weather is crappy I'm going to go home, fold laundry and snuggle in bed with my fur babies and watch bad TV until the hockey game is on. I have no plans for dinner, so I hope BF brings home something or cooks.

Tomorrow I have a waxing, hair and nail appt. I have to drive all over the county for these appointments but my hairstylist is letting me bring my dog in the salon so that's why I'm driving all over the place. Saturday night I'll probably clean the house and type of instructions for the person who's watching my cat/housesitting/using our pool.

Sunday I'm dropping off Quigley to the woman who's taking care of him when we go on vacation. I've been crying about leaving him, but I can't bring him with me, and I know she'll take good care of him. I also know deep down he needs more social interaction with other dogs but it's hard right now since he's not neutered. The dog park near us as well as all the doggy day cares won't let us use their services since he's still intact. Once we cut the balls off though, BF and I decided that once a week he's going to doggy day care to hang out with other dogs. Sunday afternoon I'll drink, cry and craft. Sunday night I'll pack for vacation, BF and I might go look at e-rings, go out to dinner and go see a movie. Hopefully there will be enough stuff to do to keep us up all night since we leave at 3am monday for vacation.

  • @buddysmom80- Haha yes unfortunately it is the same craft : ( Last Friday was a fail on getting those started so on Monday my sister and I painted them black with chalk paint and then last night I decorated them and potted the succulents in them. Tonight I plan to put little ribbons on the pots and that will be my final touch! I plan to take some photos of them tonight.

Your vacation is almost here! I'm sure Quigley will receive lots of love and attention.
  • @mhollister89 you got a lot done with that craft project! Now I really have to get my ass in gear and finish my project! I cannot wait for vacation, it's well deserved, I'm sure Quigley will get lots of love and attention, but I'm just a nervous fur mom!

  • @mhollister89 - Please AW your flower pots when they're finished!

@KeptInStitches - I'm so jealous of everyone with knitting skills on this board. Have fun in class!

@buddysmom80 - AW! Quiqley will be ok! Have fun packing ;)

  • @buddysmom80 Um going to look at e-rings? That's exciting! I am working up the courage to tell DH that I'd like a different ring. I'll always consider my blue one my e-ring, but I'd like another solitaire to wear with my wedding band. It may take me MONTHS to actually do it, but I've decided I really want it, even if I have to save up for it myself.

Tonight we have no plans. DH slept really badly last night (like not at all after 3a), so I also didn't sleep great, plus I got up at 4:45 for boot camp. I'm hoping we just go have queso and chips for dinner with a couple beers and call it a night.

Tomorrow I was supposed to have lunch w/ LaSak and JenJen but LaSak is out, so I might get my laundry done, go for a run, and just veg out.

Sunday I'm meeting Calindi (for the first time!) for some shopping and lunch. I'm trying to talk JenJen into going, too.

DH will be studying all weekend, so I'll take Toby for some walks and if it's sunny, try to work on my (non-existent) tan. We only have a couple more 'at-home' weekends before our summer of craziness starts, so I'm going to try to take advantage of it.

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • @cu97tiger Yes we are looking at e-rings! He originally had a center stone on deposit, but after doing research he didn't think he was getting the best deal so he was able to get his deposit back since his friend is a manager at that specific jewelery store. I still haven't figured out what I want yet, so we're going to a couple of jewelers just to see what I like but he'll make the final decision.

It took my mom almost 25 years to tell my dad she wanted a new e-ring! She had a solitaire when my dad first proposed and I actually have the setting since I always liked it and will eventually put my birthstone in the setting. She never liked solitaires and had the diamond set into a pendant. My dad was shocked that she didn't tell him for so long! He went to my grandparent's jewelry store and my grandmother helped pick out the ring, but my mom and her have completely different opinions. So in the end she ended up with a three stone band with oval shaped diamonds which she loves!

  • It's rainy & yucky here today too. I'm still getting settled in my new job (which I LOVEEEEE). BF & I are going to NJ tomorrow (and OF COURSE RDR won't be there) for his best friends bridal shower (he's the Man of Honor, which I think is hysterical).

Our friends are puppy-sitting Violet for the weekend, so we're bringing her over there tonight, and will probably hang out with them for a while, then we're leaving first thing in the morning. We'll stay in Jersey tomorrow night - I'm hoping it's a little nicer so we can enjoy their pool, but we'll have fun regardless. Then it's back home on Sunday!

    Daisypath Anniversary tickers

  • @buddysmom80 - Yeah for looking at rings!

@rdr716 - Congrats on the aniversary and the new nephew!

Today I got in a killer workout with a trainer, will work all day and then maybe yoga and som drinking with the H.

Tomorrow and Sunday we will be in Wisconsin visiting my family, will paint my mom's house (hopefully my arms aren't too sore after today's workout) and grill out with the family.  Should be relaxing and fun...on our way home from WI we will stop at a giant dog park in the suburbs and let the big ol' monster roam and get filthy.  :)

  • I'm so glad it's Friday, this has been a looooong week.

The only thing set in stone is my dr appt tomorrow at 12:30 on Saturday to get put on new BC. Hopefully this new shit will work because month long coloring sessions are really fucking annoying.

Oh and watching game 5 of Blackhawks vs kings. That is a must. I may watch the bruins game tonight too, depending on how I feel.

I should clean out the spare room and rearrange furniture since G, my new roommate is moving in next weekend.

Spending time with R in there as well will occur, just not sure when or what we will do, outside of watching the games. He's a huge Blackhawks fan, so we go out to watch every game
  • New nephew - YAY!

Today I'm getting an oil change, running a ton of errands and then taking my doggie for his bordatella shot. I also need to take my vacuum in to be fixed because it's not working. :(  Hopefully tonight FI and I can squeeze in a movie or something fun.

Saturday will be reserved for packing up as much of the WR stuff in my guest room as I can. My goal is to get everything organized and boxed so that I can relax next weekend...because I only have 2 more weekends before my wedding! I also need to make some wedding sineage, tag all of my favors and write a few more thank you notes for shower gifts I received.

Sunday will be dedicated to cleaning my house. Since we have my mom, my brother and his girlfriend all staying with us before we drive down for the wedding I want to make sure the place is in tip-top shape. Plus, it will keep me from stressing out over the next week and a half!

@rdr716 Congrats to your bro and SIL on the baby and congrats to you on the nephew! I can't wait to have little neices and nephews of my own so I can spoil them rotten...*cough* @mhollister89 *cough* cough*

@buddysmom80 Good luck looking at rings this weekend! Have fun!

This weekend mholl and I are cooking up a storm and hosting a luncheon tomorrow for the bridal party. I'm making quiche for the first time ever so please wish me luck! In between the cooking and the luncheoning BF and I will be carting up small loads of boxes to our new house (sorry no pics yet!). Because of our schedules (I work days and he works evenings) we haven't even been out to our new place together yet so tomorrow or Sunday I hope to get a nice picture with him in front of our new home and mabye in our ginormous backyard. Sunday BF and I are going with our realtor to Home Depot to pick out a grill as our first house-warming gift. Our realtor is a family friend so I guess that's why she wants to do this for us. Here's a pic of the grill we think we want. It's a Weber One-Touch Gold 26 3/4 in kettle charcoal grill. We'll also be picking up paint and supplies to paint our master bedroom and bathroom and more supplies to finish painting my mom's basement.

Patience grasshopper! BUT! If for some random reason idk...my BC decides to stop working then we can freak out/scream and go raid Pottery Barn Kids.
  • @lmhollister - SQUEE! A new home! That is so exciting! How awesome that your realtor is getting your a new grill too. I think I got a candle from my realtor...which was nice, but not a GRILL! You guys are going to get so much use out of that gift. Good luck with the party. Sounds like fun!
  • @buddysmom Yay to ring shopping!  I think this calls for ring porn.  Any inspiration pics?

@rdr Congrats on the new nephew.  I love babies when they are that tiny!

I started this morning with a barre workout and I am crazy sore:(  Hopefully I'll be able to move enough to get another run in tonight.   I do plan on spending tonight on couch with FI watching movies or talk him into heading to the theater to watch one.   We have drastically different taste in movies so finding one we both like can be a challenge.  I really actually would love to be in MO now. My brother is marrying his long time SO there today. It's also my parents 38th anniversary so they will all be celebrating together.  I'll have to wait until the 4th to celebrate with them.

Saturday I have my first dress fitting.  I bought a sample and it fit me perfectly the day I got it.  I went off my BC and gained 5lbs so I'm a little worried it won't fit:(  I know they can probably tailor it, but I would prefer to only need the length adjustment.  Chicago is in full swing of street festivals.  I live for street fest season!   So we're leaning towards Old Town Art Fair tomorrow night. Its one of my favorites.  Last year I drank too much wine, and then decided margaritas were a good idea with dinner. FI had to put me in a cab home.  I passed out in his lap and missed the parade of naked cyclists riding through the city.  I might have to stay sober enough to see this years nakedness.

Sunday I'm contemplating an 8K with a few friends.  We'll see if I can crawl myself out of bed in time after a night of street fests.  If I do make it, there will probably be another street fest stop after the race.

@allusive007 Yeah we think she's being too generous but she basically said if we didn't accept it she would buy us one anyway. And we do need a grill... A candle though? Your realtor could've been a bit nicer considering she made a commission off of you. Our bank that holds our mortgage gave us a doormat yesterday. I thought that was even weirder.

SQUEE new home! Pretty sure I've been silently squeeing in my head all week. I have my fingers crossed because we might might might be getting a puppy now. We know someone who has black lab mix puppies who are almost old enough to leave their mom and I'm really hoping that BF decides we can have one. If we do get one you ladies will be some of the first people to know!

  • I actually have a fun weekend planned, yay!  Today BF is picking me up from work at 2pm and we're heading straight to wine country for the weekend.  He planned the whole thing himself and I have no idea where we're staying, what vineyards we're visiting, etc., but I do know the weather is supposed to be B-E-A-UTIFUL, so I'm super excited.  It's not like him at all to plan stuff like that, but I think he's been noticing that I've been a little homesick and wants to try to keep me busy, bless his little heart :)

We head back on Sunday afternoon and will probably head straight into the city.  We have another appointment to look at e-rings, but I'm extra excited about this one because he's narrowed it down to two jewelers and is either moving forward with this one on Sunday or placing a deposit with the other one on Monday.  I'm a bit surprised (pleasantly) at how serenely calm I am considering I've been bouncing off the walls (internally!) up until this point haha.

@rdr716 Enjoy meeting your new nephew!  I'm sure TS Andrea won't give you too hard of a time--my mom caught her in Florida and they were back to sunny skies by the end of the day.

@buddysmom80 Yayyy for e-ring shopping!  You'll have to tell us how it goes :)

@ all of you crafters - I'm jealous that I'm not crafty at all and can't make anything, so please do show off your crafts so I can ooh and ahh in envy!

  • I'm going to Maine for my friend Katie's 30th birthday - her parents have a place on the beach so she, myself, my sister and three of her other friends are going up for the weekend. Katie, sis and I leave tonight and I cannot wait, although I really hope the rain clears up early enough tomorrow to enjoy SOME beach time. If we can't beach it at all, we're going to Shipyard Brewery for the day - which is also okay with me :) Sunday we will hit the beach for a few hours before heading home. Pretty solid weekend all around :)
  • @lmhollister I can't believe your realtor is buying you guys a grill. My realtor gave me a litre of Ketel One, so I can't complain though! The doormat thing is a little weird IMHO. My MO gave me $1000 towards closing costs. I was like "fine with me!"

@suzie211 I have no clue what I'm going to get or what I like. My mind changes every day. All I know is that I want white gold. I think what will happen is what I end up hating in a picture I'll love on my hand, so we'll see what happens!

  • This is our first weekend without a horse show to prepare for in a month! Our trainer is also on vacation, so we don't have to get up butt ass early tomorrow to get to the barn! Tonight and tomorrow we have a whole lotta nothin planned. I'll probably spend it doing laundry and re-organizing all of our horse show stuff.

Sunday, we're going to the Upperville Horse Show to watch the Grand Prix with the kids. It's always great for Elijah to see, because the lower levels of riding are really female dominated, while the upper levels have tons of male riders. Historically, it was a male dominated sport. I told him (a few weeks ago) that all the upper level male riders have hot girlfriends/wives, cause uhh....what girl wouldn't want a barn full of horses? He's constantly worried that his friends will make fun of him for riding. I try to reassure him that it doesn't matter what they say as long as he loves what he's doing. But, again, it's really good for him to see the older men in the sport. Anyhow...I'll stop rambling.

"Stuart was scared, but he loved Margalo, Mommy. And there is nothing bigger than love." -The Bean
"His farts smell like Satan's asshole mixed with a skunk's vagina. But it's okay, because I love him." -CSousa

  • Aw, Bean!! Tell the little man that guys who ride horses are AWESOME, and it has to be true because Auntie Bri said so.

Also, I went to text you the other day about something horse-related that I saw, and I don't have your number in my new phone. We need to remedy that (even though I don't remember now what it was that I was going to text you.)

  • RDR - yay for the new nephew and anniversary! Enjoy!
Buddy - have fun ring shopping :)
Belle - hope you have a wonderful trip, and congrats on the calmness - keep up the good work ;)

This weekend will be the suck, kinda. I got up at 0430 for clinical today (which went great, by the way) and was running on four hours of sleep, so...yeah. Will probably crash very early tonight. My mom and I both independently decided that we wanted lasagna for dinner tonight, so she was awesome and started cooking already, so I will make a salad and maybe some bread or something to go with it, and my BF and her kinda-sorta BF are coming over to eat with us, so that will be nice for the time I'm still conscious.

I work Saturday 7a-7p, and we are having a bacon-themed potluck, lol, so I'm looking forward to that. After I off I am baby-sitting for a co-worker until Lord knows what time - good thing her kids are super-cute!

Sunday I am just studying. I've got my first exam on Monday and probably I'll only get this afternoon and Sunday to review, so I'm a little nervous about that. I will also see BF that evening for a little while.

Tonight my show opens, I'm excited! I just wish it wasn't raining and I wasn't so exhausted.  After it there is a small opening night reception party. Tomorrow FI's parent's are coming by to help us do more stuff around the house.  So probably some painting will be done and tearing up the fugly backsplash in the kitchen.  Yay the first steps of kitchen remodeling!!! I have another show that night. I also have another one on Sunday afternoon. Sunday evening we are going to meet with a photographer. So excited!

@rdr716 yay for getting to meet your new nephew! Sunday night I'm meeting with Stephanie so excited!!!
