HELP! Introductions!

So, my future husband has a kid from a previous marriage, and he wants us to be all introduced together. I don't know how we would word it. We don't want to do "the new and improved family" because he's not really my child, plus that would seem a little mean towards his mother. I don't really know how to word it so I kind of need help!

Holy crap, yeah don't say anything remotely like "new and improved family." Honestly, I'd steer away from anything that suggests "new" family - that' awkward and inappropriate for his son and for the ex.

CMGr's wording will work just fine.

I'd ask his mother before the son is introduced with you. And if the son is old enough to understand what's going on, I'd ask him too.

If everyone's agreeable, I'd do it as CMGr suggests. If not, I would just have the two of you introduced together. Please respect their feelings if they object to his son's being introduced with you.

I would introduce you and your FI and just do something special with his son before or during the reception, with just the three of you. Having an introduction of the three of you is going to give the apperance of "this is our new family". If his mother is in the picture, that is going to be horribly offensive.
