VG you might want to close your eyes here!

Ladies, My mom and I were just talking and she was saying that her friend's daughter got married this past April and that she was pouring with sweat between her thighs under her dress. Ladies who have worn the dresses, does this happen and if so, how do you prevent or can you? I'm scared! :-).

I put deodorant on my thighs when I wear dresses all the time! It actually really helps that generally sticky feeling when it's really hot out. Definitely recommend a powdery deodorant like Dove though instead of a gel... ick.

It also just kind of depends on your natural body heat, how you react to sun, and how well 'ventilated' your dress is haha.

Alternatively, if you need a little 'boost' anyway, you could wear the Spanx that also cover the thighs. They'll keep you dry!

    THIS TOTALLY HAPPENED TO ME.

I was married in May in early afternoon in the shade, but a mix of nerves and heat had my legs shaking and DRIPPING. It affected me so much I have a post on my blog going up soon on it!

Some thing I would recommend: make your own ice pack (freeze a sponge after soaking it in water and put it in a ziploc or just google DIY ice pack) and put it up under your dress or keep it on your neck or inner elbows, cooling points, to keep you cool until the second you have to be seen by people.

I also used to use prickly heat powder a lot as a kid living in Thailand when the heat would make me break out in sweaty hives (gross, I know! but heat affects me!). The powder keeps you much cooler. I think Gold Bond Powder might have a similar effect and you can usually buy a tiny travel sized bottle at most CVS drugstores on the Strip.

Love that deodorant tip though, katelynswartz. Can I nab it to put in the post?

OK, VG, avert your eyes here.

I use a chaffing powder gel made especially for this.  It is by the Monistat company and can usually be found in the "femine care" aisle of the pharmacy.  I SWEAR by this stuff and have recommended it to a ton of friends who also now swear by it.  It goes on like a gel, but it has a powder feel to it when it dries.  But it lasts for hours (longer than baby powder) but does not seem "wet" when it is on.  Honestly, it is a miracle product.  Here is a link to what I am talking about and its reviews.

On a funny note, my FI's best man does triatholons and his wet suit for swimming was chafing his neck when he would swim.  I bought him this and it worked wonders.  Of course, we all had a good laugh at the fact that the BM was "using my vagina cream" (It is NOT vagina cream, I swear... just made by the same company!!!)  But it was very funny.

  • Also, Summer's Eve makes a deodorant spray for "down there." I use it all the time and it's great for not just the one area, but between the thighs too. It doesn't leave any sort of residue either and seems to last a long time. And it's safe... try it out!

  • Thanks for posting about this...I was worried about the same thing!  I will have to try one of those out

  • Did you know that Monistat anti-chafing cream is also an excellent makeup primer? Seriously, Google it! Why waste money in Smashbox when this one serves two purposes? :)

I really didn't think the temps in April would be that bad, I thought I was going to be in like the comfortable Vegas weather before gets too hot. Glad we opted for indoors!

  • I'm April too and just switched from VOF to Foundation Room because we didn't want to worry about heat. I had no clue about monistat. Wow and I am a smash box user. Lol.

  • I've used the Monistat product for years and it is amazing!!! It will stay on for hours and work great!
  • I also swear by the Monistat anti-chafing gel. It's amazing!
  • Is this stuff with the regular monistat? I web looking for it yesterday and couldn't find it at Target or CVS.
    Wedding Countdown Ticker
  • Yes, it should be. I've found it at Target and Wal-Mart. It's in a purple tube.
  • I love all of you. I never thought of this and I always complain about chaffing.  My FI gets a horrible rash that is usually treated with vaseline. Hello monistat! You're all amazing!

  • Such a funny post!
  • I use Body Glide when I run, but the Monistat stuff really is amazing. I use that as a makeup primer and never have to reapply, no matter how humid it is that day.
