Affordable venues - beachy or outdoorsy - need help!!!

My fiance and I are in the early stages of looking for a wedding venue. We don't have a huge budget but don't want to skimp on the food and booze, so we're trying to save on the venue and caterer ourselves. I'm really into the white outdoor tents, but need ideas for where to put one! Does anyone know a scenic location in MA (or RI/NH). We would need a place with restrooms and other amenities, but would want the reception in a tent. I'm open to other ideas if its affordable! Please help :)

When you end up pricing everything out you are going to need, from the loacation, the tent rental, tables, linens, plates, silverwear, etc, etc,etc..the list of what you are going to have to rent, you will probably be at or even higher than finding a venue that already has a tent and the staff to do a wedding.
  • Not sure of your budget and how many guests you're planning on but we got married on Sandy Beach in Cohasset.  Our reception was at the Atlantica in Cohasset.  It's a restaurant right on the harbor, very beautiful.
  • South shore science center in Norwell has a beautiful open field where you can put up a tent. It has restrooms and a kitchen in the center itself along with a small meeting room and some tables and chairs. Very reasonable cost. You can save considerably on catering and booze but you do have to pay to rent the tent, chairs, tables, glassware lighting and a dance floor as well as linens. You can cut down on costs many ways. Use bamboo plates and utensils, mason jars for drinks ( at .50 cents each less than rental) but you still have to figure 2-3,000 for rentals. You can get a very outdoorsy feel in certain inexpensive venues that you have to pay to rent but can bring in your own catering and sometimes booze as well". Camp Kiawanee in Hansen immediately comes to mind. On a lake, town owned so inexpensive to rent, beautiful building, if I recall tables and chairs included.
  • Twelve Acres in Smithfield RI has an outdoor tent but I'm not sure if you can have your own caterer but they do have good food.  http://www.twelveacresbanquet.com/facilities_pavilion.php#ad-image-0  The price is not bad for what you get either http://www.twelveacresbanquet.com/outdoor.php
